Edith, or Dee as she was more familiarly known, was not only a founding trustee of the Burns Price Foundation but also its heart and guiding spirit. Throughout her life Dee had a vision, compassion, and unwavering belief in the power of children and young people to make a difference and that has shaped everything we do here at BPF. She poured her energy and love into this Foundation, helping to build a legacy of opportunity, inclusion, and hope. For us all, this loss is deeply personal - not only have we lost a remarkable trustee and leader, but we have lost our Mum/friend/wife. Her presence around the table, her wisdom, and her warmth will be profoundly missed. As we carry forward the work she began, I know she would want us to continue with the same commitment to empowering young people and fostering positive change. As a Board, we continue to be grateful to our primary benefactor The Medlock Charitable Trust and in particular to David Medlock. David has remained faithful to his commitment to Fund the BPF to a total of £250k and at the end of January 2025, we were grateful to receive a further £50K towards this total. This leaves a further £20K to complete the original £250K commitment and we hope to draw down the final sums during the coming year or so. The 10[th] anniversary of the formation of The Burns Price Foundation occurred during 2025. The generous funding awarded by The Medlock Charitable Trust at the beginning of the year enabled BPF Trustees to progress their plans to mark the anniversary by making a series of grants up to the value of £10,000 for suitable, and what we consider, legacy projects. A poster was created to advertise these legacy grants which was shared in the UK Youth newsletter towards the end of 2025. Separately, groups BPF had previously supported were contacted inviting them to apply. In October 2025, the first legacy grant was awarded to Rise:61, a youth and community charity serving a deprived area of Salisbury. This is a group BPF first supported in 2018. Other grants awarded during 2025 were £10K to Regenerate for a London to Venice Bike Ride where sixteen young people raised £50K to be re-invested in the Feelgood Coffee Shop and £2,000 to Birkheads Wild in Newcastle. We have been encouraged by the take up on these grants so far and a full account will appear in the 2026 Annual Report. Although the year appears to be quiet there have been some very good contacts and we are encouraged by the ongoing interest in the Foundation. We continue to be grateful for the support and hard work of our friend and administrator Jayne Sims whose commitment to the Foundation is deeply valued and appreciated.
