This is our seventh year as a Volunteer Car Scheme and we are starting to recover from the pandemic. The last 12 months has been slow and the number of passengers using the service was down approximately 30% on pre-pandemic levels (this figure was 75% last financial year). Whilst the numbers are slowly growing, this reduction has had a drastic effect on our revenue. The number of journeys undertaken might have dropped but our outgoings have stayed the same. To this end our revenue is less than our expenditure, the difference being covered by our reserves.
Total journeys for 2021/2022 were 2847, carrying 3483 passengers. This is more than double the previous year (which were 1067 journeys carrying 1229 passengers) but down on prepandemic levels.
