This is our sixth year as a Volunteer Car Scheme and along with everyone else, we have suffered during the pandemic. During April, May and June 2020, we ceased operations as we were unsure how the virus spread and were concerned for the welfare our passengers, volunteer drivers and office staff. In June, we realised that the volunteer car scheme had a role to play with regards to getting passengers to hospital and medical appointments. After polling our drivers and office staff and offering to supply appropriate PPE, the Trustees agreed that we should open again as from the 1 July 2020, with reduced capacity, for medical journeys only.
Our finances have suffered and we are slowly using our reserves. During the period of 1 July 2020 to 31 March 2021 we undertook 1067 journeys compared with 4069 the previous year. Thereby leaving us with an approximate 75% drop in income which is reflected in our attached accounts
We would like to thank all the drivers and office volunteers for their help during this pandemic.
