**Objects:** FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND THE COUNTRIES OF THE FORMER SOVIET BLOCK:? PROMOTING THE EFFECTIVE OPERATION OF THE LEGAL SYSTEM AND THE RULE OF LAW;? ADVANCING EDUCATION FOR THE PERFORMERS OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEMS;? RAISING AWARENESS IN HUMAN RIGHTS, INCLUDING EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY.

**Activities:** Following the study visit of Russian lawyers to London, a series of educational events and exchange of experiences will be organised for practising defence lawyers in the Northwest Region of Russia in 2016/17. The training will address the principles of fair trial, professional legal ethics and practical skills. The project is funded by the FCO Russia Civil Society Fund.
