We have reviewed our objectives for the year and ensured they are benefiting public in our target areas. We reviewed the activities conducted by our charity and they are in line with stated objectives and is in the interest of public benefit.

## **Focus of our work this year**

During this report year (1[st] June 2020 to 31[st] May 2021), we have been involved in supporting people who had been affected with COVID pandemic that resulted in unemployment, loss of income and other hardships across Kerala, along with few medical cases in India. A major part of the fund raised during the year was distributed among people who have been badly affected during the pandemic. Most of them have lost their jobs and were struggling for their day-to-day life. We have also been

able to contribute toward some house construction work of some poor families. We also took part in educational activities during the year by supporting students from poor families. Our medical help was to support families of patients suffering from serious illness to get access to medication and treatments.

## **How our Activities Deliver Public Benefit**

Current year, COHI has aimed to help individuals worst affected by pandemic in Kerala, as previously mentioned. Many individuals have lost their job and other earnings to support them and their families; thus, we have supported them financially to overcome their hardships in this unprecedented time. We have also been fortunate to raise money in order to provide educational support to students from poor families who were not able to complete their study due to financial hardship. Furthermore, we have helped a few patients with their medical bill and supported them by providing daily household expenses. Our funds have aided many individuals to access treatment and resuming their normal life.

Similarly to previous years, the availability of fund was limited for our activities as the funds were primarily obtained through public voluntary donations. COHI also helps with any appeals referred by the public which are reported in Indian dailies or from social media. COHI will aim to ensure that the claim is genuine by contacting and verifying with the local authorities involved. In genuine cases of plea, COHI will aim to aid those in need by providing help using available funds, if there is a lack of funds available, we will aim to raise fund.

## **Financial Review**

Planning the financial year was much difficult, similarly to last year, as the funding and resources were limited due to the huge demand from our target beneficiary community. However, with rapid public respond to

some of the appeals and with some reserve fund available, COHI was able to successfully meet all the prominent appeals. This was also possible due to the public volunteer donations, in which a total of £19962.09 was raised. The principal funding source is through public voluntary donations in forms of either cash or bank transfers along with matched fund raise from Vodafone UK.

## **Financial Investment and Reserve Policy**

Having looked at the Reserve Policy, we have developed a Reserve Policy in order to avoid the situation in which the organisation could have insufficient funds to aid an immediate appeal for life threatening cases from poor areas or any immediate administration requirements. The Reserve Policy created aims to maintain at least £500 in reserve for such cases. This is again raised through public voluntary donations. Due to the limited funds, there is currently no plans for any further investment.

## **Plan for Future Period**

COHI will continue to engage in fundraising activities to achieve our aims (See COHI Aims and Objectives, for more details). The source of fundraising will be increased with more appeals to the general public and through other activities such as charity events and gatherings. We are planning to keep the funds currently available at a satisfactory level to meet any immediate requirements. COHI takes an active approach in which visits are made to areas with direct needs of help and create a plan to aid improve their current situation.
