Siiboo Chairman’s Annual Report
Reflecting on a Year of Resilience and Commitment
Overview
The past year for Siiboo has been defined by a steadfast commitment to our core mission during a period of significant economic challenges. While this year has not been marked by major new capital investments or large-scale events, it has been a vital period of consolidation and strategic planning.
We have focused our energy on maintaining the essential services that the community of Bankindik relies upon, ensuring that despite external financial pressures, our support remains a constant in the lives of those we serve.
Strengthening Community Ties
Earlier this year, we were pleased to facilitate a productive visit to The Gambia. This trip was instrumental in maintaining our relationship with local leadership. We spent considerable time in consultation with the Village Head, discussing a roadmap for future projects.
While our current financial position requires us to be cautious, these discussions have ensured that we are "project-ready." We have a clear vision for the initiatives we wish to launch once our funding levels allow for further expansion and investment.
Impact and Education
Our primary focus remains the welfare and development of the children in Bankindik. I am proud to report that, despite the financial hurdles of the last twelve months, we have successfully:
-
Maintained Free Education: Ensuring that every child in our program continues to have access to learning without financial barriers.
-
Continued Feeding Programs: While we have had to operate a reduced feeding schedule due to budget constraints, we have prioritised providing consistent nutritional support.
-
Sustained Employment: We have successfully met our commitments to our staff, ensuring that salaries are paid and our team remains stable and motivated.
Acknowledgments and Appreciation
The continuity of our work is a testament to the people behind Siiboo.
I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated teams in both The Gambia and the UK. Their hard work and resilience in navigating a challenging financial landscape have been nothing short of exemplary.
Finally, my sincerest thanks go to our sponsors. Your financial support is the lifeblood of this charity. Especially in difficult years like this one, your contributions are what allow us to keep the doors open and the children fed. We do not take your trust for granted.
Looking Ahead We remain optimistic. By maintaining our foundations today, we are ensuring that Siiboo is ready to grow again tomorrow.
