Interakt Charity December 2020 to December 2021
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Another challenging yet inspiring year filled, with a variety of new and wonderful opportunities!
-
Interakt’s new home base on the first floor of Newbury Rugby Club has been a fantastic move and very much appreciated by the participants, their staff, families and Interakt staff.
-
The sessions continue to be enthusiastically received and the ease of parking has made a great difference for access.
-
The sessions are face to face with guidelines depending on government updates.
-
Having our own premises has enabled our staff to develop themes for following days and weeks once the participants have left the building as we are no longer restricted to a 9am-3pm day.
-
The zoom sessions are still on going with:
-
Adult Social Care managers
-
*Commissioning Managers
-
*Direct Payment managers
-
*Public Health England
-
*West Berkshire Head of Health and Safety
-
In order to develop good practice guidelines with all those concerned during the present crisis and by implementing and inviting them to our new premises so that they are confident that Interakt has all the right measures in place for keeping everyone safe.
-
Interakt continues exploring and developing works in Drama, Music and Movement, Art, Film Making and IT. Face to face performances to the general public have still not been possible but video productions have which has meant that most of our participants were able to take part in last year’s Christmas video as well as this years.
-
The Watermill Theatre Partnership Project did take place in November 2021 which was a great success. Our participants were directed by one of their Artistic Directors who supported the group to engage and perform their version of the play “Brief Encounter,” this was performed at the Watermill Theatre to families and friends. One of our participants said performing at the Watermill was a dream come true, something he’s wanted to do all his life. It was wonderful!!!
NEW OPPORTUNITIES
-
Independent life skills opportunities are still on the cards but for now Interakt is maintaining social distancing guidelines.
-
The NRFC (Newbury Rugby Football Club), is keen to develop a football and rugby team for those with disabilities as well as offer work experience opportunities with employment opportunities once

-
restrictions ease up as our vulnerable adults do not mix with the general public within the sporting activities..
-
Interakt makes use of the football pitches with sport and outdoor games, walks and fresh air.
