## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2020**
The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2020. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practise (SORP) Accounting and Reporting by Charities issued in March 2005.

The charity constitution was adopted on 29 April 2015 and registered with Charities Commission on 6 May 2015.

## **Governing document**
The charity is controlled by its constitution.
## **Recruitment and appointment of new trustees**
Elected by AGM of Members.
## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**
## **Objectives and aims**
The promotion of community participation in healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of cricket.
## **Significant activities**
The Charity has continued to organise a programme of league and friendly cricket matches for both adult and junior members. The cricket ground has been maintained to a high standard for the benefit of the local community as well as the Charity. The Club, facilities, resources and the game of cricket are promoted locally on a cost effective basis.
All Trustees have maintained due regard to the Charity Commission's public benefit guidance when exercising powers or duties to which the guidance is relevant.
The Charity does not make grants and is run solely by volunteers with the exception of the groundsman. Younger club members are encouraged to take on responsibility.
New members are actively sought without discrimination.
Exceptionally for 2020, the Club has followed all government advice about Covid to allow the safe return of recreational cricket.

## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities**
## **Key achievements during the year have been:**
- The Club completed its 3rd year in the Thames Valley Cricket League in 2020. The second half of the planned season was completed, with all matches played as friendlies. Both the 1st XI and 2nd XI finished mid-table.
- We completed a ground outfield project (costing £2,100).
- Junior membership has increased to over 60 children.
- We donated £400 to the Ruth Strauss foundation.
- We were able to support our tennants the Nursery by providing one term at a 50% reduction (worth £1,500).
## **REPORTING PUBLIC BENEFIT**
As a small charity, below the Charity Act's audit threshold, the trustees' report focuses on the main activities undertaken by the Club to further its charitable purposes for the public benefit. The Objectives and Activities section provides a brief summary of the activities which have all been undertaken for the public benefit.
## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**
## **Review of the year**
- The social club has donated £3,300 to the cricket Club.
- The Club has received £2,800 from donors: members, ex-members/vice presidents, colts parents, ECB & Gift Aid.
- We renewed sponsorship from The Beehive, worth £500 p.a.
- We reduced costs wherever possible. Most notably forgoing a paid groudsman for the first half of the planned season. Also: zero business rate for 2020/21, cancelled TV & Music Licences, and naturally reduced energy usage.
- It means we have managed to run the cricket club at breakeven, before a government grant of £10,000.
- Cash of £25,000 maintained in our bank accounts, all unrestricted funds. Great resilience for 2021.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF WHITE WALTHAM CRICKET CLUB**
## _**Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner:**_
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
## It is my responsibility to:
· examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act;
· follow the procedures laid down in the general Direction given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act; and
· state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## _**Basis of independent examiner’s report:**_
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Direction given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## _**Independent examiner’s statement:**_
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:
· to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and
· to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
