Membership:
- Membership of CLEO remains healthy and continues to increase steadily with membership at 344 individuals as at April 2024.
Set out below is a summary of the key events, workshops and initiatives organised by the Clinical Legal Education Organisation between 6 April 2023 and 5 April 2024.
Policy Network Workshops:
The Policy Network organised a series of workshops which were held within the Policy Network team on the CLEO Teams site (with recordings available for members of the team).
The following events were held between 6 April 2023 and 5 April 2024:

Utilising Projects for Research and Publication (18 April 2023)

Impact of Policy Work and Social Justice (27 November 2023).
These were held, and recorded, within the Policy Network team on the CLEO Teams site.
The Policy Clinics team also held a number of one-to-one meetings with colleagues to assist with the setting up and operation of the policy clinics within their university setting.
Research Network Workshops:
In March 2023 the CLEO Events team set up the CLEO Research Team, an online space to enable clinical legal educators to connect with one another, share ideas, offer peer review, organise meetings and generally provide a supportive space for research. The following events were held via Teams for this group between 6 April 2023 and 5 April 2024 (with recordings available for members of the team):

19 June 2023: Research Skills for Clinicians: focus groups, with Lucy Yeatman and Louise Hewitt

5 July 2023: Research Methods: choosing the right method, with Elaine Gregerson and Lucy Blackburn

10 July 2023: Mixed Methods in University Law Clinics, with Alina Kislova

6 October 2023: Analysing Qualitative Data, with Lucy Yeatman

17 October 2023: Professional identity, with Rachel Wood

20 March 2024: Writing about clinics for the REF, with Donald Nicholson.
Events:
CLEO organised several events between April 2023 and April 2024.

25 May 2023: Family Justice Roundtable: This hybrid event, organised by Lucy Yeatman and Liz Fisher-Frank, proved very popular with 54 people registered (26 in person and 28 online).

- 12 September 2023: CLEO Annual Conference hosted by the University of Derby. The conference was hybrid, with 35 people attending in person and 39 online. There were presentations from members on a range of clinic themes, a roundtable on the difficulties facing the voluntary sector in providing frontline services and an interactive workshop on Legal Design.
We also continue to advertise events that are likely to be of interest to our members, such as LawWorks events, Streetlaw Best Practice, ICJLE and GAJE conferences and so on.
Ukraine:
CLEO established a relationship with the Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine (ALCU) and held a preliminary meeting online during May 2023. During the 2023-24 academic year a working group of CLEO and ALCU members worked on the terms of reference for a relationship between the two national associations to share experiences and best practice in relation to pro bono and CLE work.
AGM:
The AGM for this reporting period took place on 6 September 2023 in person.
