The trustees are pleased to prescnt th¢ir reFK)rt for the ycar ended 31 March 2025.
Formation and constitution
The Red Tn￿ Bushey (RTB) was set up as a Cl￿1*able IllCor￿rated Organisation (CIO) on
1st March 2015. Thc mcmEtr5 of thc CIO are the charity tr￿￿teeS.
Objects of the charitable incorporated organisation (CIO)
In accordance with Christian princApl¢& the Objects of the CIO are. for the public benefit:
-the relief of those in need (but not exclusively) by reason of youtty age. ill-health, disability,
fllwicial hardship or other social or economic disadvantage.
-to advance in lite and help young people through the provision of rccr¢atiOlldl leisure time
activiti¢5 provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life
and pmviding support and activities which help develop their skills, capacities and capabilities
to enable them to participats in society &8 maturc and reSp)￿]ble individuals: and
-to fiwthcr or benefit the residents of Bushey and the lleighbourhoo￿ without distinction of sex,
sexual 0rientstio￿ race or of political, religioub or other opinions by associating together the

The trustces who bav¢ served during the period to the date of this rep)rt (unless oth¢rwisc
stated) are as above.
N¢w ttub'lw5" are selected when there is a nfftl for additional expertise and expericnce. A new
t￿￿te¢ will be recommended by a member of the current trustees and the new trustee is then
appointed by a majority vots at the trustees, meeting. A comprehensive induction is undertaken
by the Chair of Tn￿teeS for new trustees. This includes giving them a copy of the trustee
handbooK discussion on RTB Vision and Values and attendance at a trial tn]st¢e mecting. The
risk a&scssm¢nL finallcc r¢wrt and OUTline of current actt"vities nt.the trust is given to every new
trustee.
Organisalion
The trnstees meet at least four times each calendar year for a business meeting to decide policy,
to manage the affairs of the tr￿ to discuss news and to Pray.

Use of volunteers and other non-monetsry gifts
The Trnst could not fijnction without the work of volunte¢rs who assist with running the cafe
and foodbank and other events. We are gratefid for their comtnitment and enthusi&sm - they
make the work of thc Tn￿ w￿lble.
This year we have maintsined a core team of 50 voluntccrs who havc bUPPOrted the foodbank
and cafe and local events the foodbanL cafe. after scbool club and at local events. RIB I￿￿. also
invested in our volunteer pr(Kess and procedures to ensure compliance with safeguarding
guidelines. We now have an online and hard copy volunteer application forn] and follow up on
all references for each volunteer. We have also updatcd our membership of Con]munities I

to ensure we are in linc with natioJMI gutdelines and we are also ahle to offer staff nationally

Achi¢Yements and Perforniance
The Phoenix Centre
We have renewed our hire agreement with Notting Hill Genesis for use of the Phoenix centre
in Faringdon Avellue, Bushey unttl January 2026. The rental agreement allows us to ￿5¢ the
Phoenix centre for a consid¢rable Pdrt of the week (Monday to Sabirday). This has given us the
opportunity to expand our activities and to havc a basc whiLh we can ￿se for meetingg and
uffice space. Jn additio]L thanks to a grant from Hertsmerc council, wc hav¥ successfully
transfornied and rebuilt a dedicated shed to safely store supplies for our foodW This was
completed in April 2025.
FoodbaDk
Thc Phoenix c¢llts¢ llow hosts both the Tuesday 2nd Friday foodbanks. The family foodbank
on a Tuesday and thc Friday foodbank sUP￿rt at least 40 families each week Visitors now
enjoy stopping for a coffee and a chal using the foodbank as a social space.
After School Club
The after school club njns after school on a Thursday. Dw7ng the year we were ahle to tske on
a youth worker to d¢velop our offrr to young pcoplc In the local community.

The Red Café n]ns on Saturdays from I1.30am -1.30pm at the Phoenix Centre. We employ a
part time cafe manager who oversees the running of the cafe and the volunteers. The numbe
visiting the café has increased over the year and we continue to have more than 20 families who
visit the cafe on a regular b&sis. It is during this time that our Pioneer worker nwes an
intentional listening offer to members of th¢ community who have beell affected by loss to
com¢ along for a fricndly chat and a cl]ance to meet with others.

Pioneer Worker
Our Pioneer Wnrker has now been working at thc Red Trnst foi ovcr Iwo years and h&5 been
parat[￿ullt in developing our after-school club on a Thursday and our intentional listelling
volunteer offcr. Pionc¢r wvrker supp)rts all our activities and provides a 'listening ear, to
many of our visitors to the Cafe and FoodbauL She also goes into many ot the IIKal schools to
engage with families who are harder to reach and not ill Maill￿ educational settings. She
also built relationships with local care homes, centres of faith and spirituality, and many
local community groups who meet regularly around Bushey.
Fundraising and Grants
DutiDg year, the Red Tn￿t has continued to employ a part time operntional l¢ad aud
fimdraiser who organised fundraising and community evenL8 and he.1&￿d with specific
grants for the foodbanL cafe and Pionecr worker. They bave been involved in the following:

Restricted Funds towards the Pioneer Worker
We have funds that have been given to us specifically for our Pioneer Worker by the Sisters of
the Holy Cross. Ther¢ was a sn]all outstanding balanc£ on these fim(Lq at the end of the year,
and this will be carried forward to ncxt year.
Grant fundin%
We applied for and sUcC￿5fullY rcc¢ivLxI the following specific grants and donations during the
year coming to a total of £74,956:
Hertsmer& Hertfordshire and Jvard initiative improvement seheme grants (WIIS)
During thc ycar w¢ rcccivcd a D¢p(￿l￿cnt for Work and Pensions (DWP) Hertsmere Cost of
Living Grant - this was used mainly for the f￿dballk . is a balance on the DWP grant
*vill rAo•d to bo by 2020.
We also received a 50 anDiversary Grant to help us celebrate with the community the 5
anniversary of Hertsmere. Agai￿ this Imd a small balance at the end of the year, and this was
used to pay for part of the memorial bench to be situated in front of the cafe.
We. aIso received a Hertsmere support grant for thc foodballk alld school club n]n by our
Pioneer worker and the Lommunities First C2dent Grant for the cafe. srants w¢r¢
received in March 2025 and arc showing in our specific funds.

We also reccived a ward initiative grant in March 2025 towards refurbishing our sh¢d and
purchasing a new freez£r.
Champniss Foundation
The Champniss Foundation have incredibly generous with their grants to Rcd Trust
Bushcy this y¢ar. Ill JuDe 2025, the Champniss Foundation granted Red T￿￿t Dushey twu
separate grants, to Govcr ov¢thcdd costs of the Phoenix Centre and for the costs of the
Operational Lead role. This h&8 meant Rcd Tn￿ call Lulltinue to operate out of the same
commiinity centre which h&8 ensured an established community bas¢ h&s been stable and well
used by the local community.
Champniss Foundation also Sw)pOrt￿ the expansion of the after school and youth offer by
covering the costs of the new Youth worker role and coverin8 all the overhead costs for 2025.

Statement of Trustces, responsibilities
The tnLStees are required to prepare accounts for each financial year. which comply with the
CIMrities Act 2011 and the Clwity (Accounts and RepxTrrts) Regulations 2008. In preparing
thcsc accounts the trustees are required to:

The trustees are respnnsible for keeping proper accounting rccords, which dis'Llosc with
rcasonablc accuracy lime the financial ￿sitiOn ()t" the trust. They are also responsible
for safeguarding the asscts of th¢ trust and tithing reasonable steps for the prevention and
detection of fraud.
The trustees confirm that they have identified the major risks to which the C]￿lty is exposed
to. The trustees have reviewcd the sy5tell￿ and procedures to manage thnvE risks.
Th¢ ate also responsible for ensuring that all employees, trustees and volunteers have
the appropriate DBS checks. We l]ave also identified any impacts of the (TDPR legislation and
taken relevant action where appropriate. New employees are taken on subject to these checks
being made.

Finaneial Review
The financial year ended 31 March 2025 was a period of growth for The Red Trust Bushey.
We had a significant incre&se in activity and community engagcmenL and we were able to
financ¢ these activitics through both S￿IfiC and general funds
Total income for thc year was £81 J07 (2023124 - £59288) comprisll￿ £11,787 (2023124 -
£14,534) voluntary donations towards daY-t￿daY running of thc Trubl (￿d £65.415 (2023124 -
£39,000) specific grants and donations, £872 (2023124 - £2,432) from Fundraising events
£1,383 (2023124 - £1.654) donations from the cafe and £1.850 {202312£k £1.668) inveslment
income.

The employment costs covercd four employees working part time for the entire year and four
employees working part time for part of the year.
The deficit for the year was £5.000 (of which £5,008 was a deficit from restricted funds)
(2023124 - £19,536). At 31 March 2025, accumulaTed funds were £76,.319 (2023124 £81.318),
of which £19,789 was restricted.
Statcmenl uf the cbarlty's policy on reserv&s
The Red Trust Bushey uses all donations towards general reserves unless a restrictxon is put
on that donatio
At 31 Match 2025, the reserves were higher than we woiild nornially WCL This was due to 2
grants being rcceivcd during thc uf March - Ix)th of which will be ￿￿ed during the year
2n25126. The Red Tn￿ Bushey endeavour to bold at least 6 monthb expenditure as our
preferred level of reserves. Hnwever, as much of our money is from gry￿ts - thcse will not b¢
received evenly throughout the year and can n]ake our reserves 4)pear higher at specific points
in time.

The charity's trustees arc responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's
trust¢es consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities
Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examtnation is needed.
