This past year has seen significant growth in our childcare provision, w'ith over 200 children noTh' enrolled across our childcare services. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the trust that families place in us. The continuation of the Holidays, Actiipities and Food (HAF) progTaTnme has been another highlight, allowins us to support ovei l 00 childrL'n. niany of ity'hom benefited fr()m ftllided places. The trips and actiiiities arranged b! our dedicated childcare team have proiwided invaluable experiences for local children and families, promoting inclusion, fun, and learnÈng. We are equally proud of the professional development i*'ithin our staff team. The completion of new qualifications and apprenticeships demonstrates our ongoing commitment to groii.th and excellence. It's inspiring to see such enthusiasm for Iifelong learning across the organisation, and ￿Te are delighted to welLome neTh' members like our business adTnin apprentice, M'ho bring fresh energy and skills (o our work. While we were sorry to say goodbye to a few long-standing community groups this )rear, Ive are pleased to have welcomed several neMT ones - from creative and social activities like the Fiddle class and youth club, to vital health and wellbeing pro8ramTnes such as the NHS puImonary rehabilitation sessions. The breadth and diversity of the 35 groups nom, operating within the Centre truly reflects the richness of our local community. FinanciaIly, l am plea.ged to report that the Centre is in a stronger and more stable position. Heaton Community Centre CIO Annual report of the Trustees for the year ended 31 December 2024 Heaton Communty Centre is a Charttable Incorporated Organisation, registered charity number 1161406 with a written constitution. The management committee is iesponsible for the day to day running of the centre. The assets of the charity were transfered from Heaton Community Centre at the start of the year. Trustee5 are appointed at the Annual General Meetins. Objects The objects of the communitycentre are to: (a) promote the benefrt of the inhabitants of Heaton and the Neighbourhood together defined by Newcastle East (hereinafter called the -area of bene￿,) without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions, by association together the said inhabitants and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the objertof improving the conditions of life forthe said inhabltants; (b) establish or secure the establishment of a Community Centre (herÈinaftÈr called "the Centre.) and to maintain and manage the same {whether alone or in co-operation with any local authority or other person or body) in furtherance of these objects. Icl promote such charitable purposes as may from time to time be determined. The Association shall be non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion. We are continuing to work with Newcastle City Council to make improvements to ensure the building is wind and watertight. Trustees Responsibilitles The trustee5 are required under the Charities Act 2011 to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the chariVs finanual activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing financial statements giving a true and fair view, the trustees should follow best practice and: (al select suitable accountin8 policies and apply them consistently: (b) make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; (c) state whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed. subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the financlal statements; Id) prepare the financial statements on a going concem basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. The trustees are responsible for keeping record5 which di5c105e with reasonable accuracy the financial positton of the charity and which enable them to aS￿rtain the financial position of the charity and which enable them to ensure that the financial statements complywith applicable law and re8ulations. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
