MARGATE FOOTBALL CLUB COMMUNITY TRUST REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 ocfo8ER 2024 The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 October 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accountin8 and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities in Preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffective l January 20191. OBJEcfivES AND AcfiviTIES Objectlves and alms The Charity's objective is to promote all purposes recognised a5 charitable under the law of England and Wales, in particular through the association with amateur sport for the benefit of the public generally and in particular for the community of Thanet.. al To promote community participation in healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of football,. and bl To provide and assist in providing facilities for sport, recreation or other leisure time occupation of such persons who have need for such facilities by reason of their youth, age, poverty or social and economic circumstances for the public at large, in the interest of social welfare and with the object of improving their conditions of life. Slgnlflc3nt artlvltles and achlevements In 2024 the Mar8ate FC Community Trust has continued to deliver the Homeless Football project to great success. This has strengthened the links between the charity and community and the partners that help deliver the project,. includin8 the Thanet Oistrict Council, the NHS and various funders. We have introduced the "Golden Ticket" project acr055 Thanet. In this project we give each Primary School a season ticket to all home lea8ue5 8ames Icolored 8oldl and the school can use this to reward a student each week. With a golden ticket, the student can come to a Margate 8ame with their immediate family and all receive free entry for all. The ticket is then 8iven back to the school and they can chose another student to reward. This project gives school a tool by whlch to help motivate children with a reward that has a tan8ible outcome. We were also successful in bidding for fLtnding from the government's Holiday Activity Fund IHAFI in which we were able to offer half term holiday actlvities to children locally that included a hot meal. This Scheme was created to help feed children who are on free school dSnners at school and who are at risk of hunger during half terms. Unfortunately, we were not able to deliver the Sporting Memories project in 2024, however we were able to agree with the funder, the Shared Prosperity Fund, to push the project back by a year and deliver it in 2025. One project that stopped this year was the Soccer Camps, which have been now taken over by Mar8ate Youth Football Club. In the future we will look to start other football coaching based projects. Finally, we have had a strong year with new grant applications both for new project5 and for ongoing funding for existing projects with notable praise going to Pat Sutcliffe who has consistently delivered well thou8ht-out out and written grant applications. Public Beneflt When plannin8 our activities the trustee5 consider the Commission's guidance on publlc benefit. STRucfuRE GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governlng document The charity is controlled by its 8overning document, a deed of trust, and constitutes a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.
