Section D Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year One of the charitys objects is to promote the efficiency of the police, the administration Df the law and good.citEenship and greater public participabon in the prevention and solution of crime. in particular in relation to counterfeittng and (x)nsumer protection. To start achieving some of this. the charity is working on a novel concept to.. l. Dissuade the general public from purchasing COURterfeiLlfake products and items. 2. Educate the general publ￿ on the dangers of acquiring counterfeitlfake products and items. 3. Inform the general public on how they may protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud. The charity has named its concept Yhe Fake Shop". What is The Fake Shop? Wth so many High Street shops dosing down there isn't a shortage of potential sites to run The Fake Shop Projecl. In essence, the tharity proposes to put bad( into use empty stores in towns and aties, with the partiapation of local trading standards, police, local authonties and other stake holders. and to fumish them with basic shop frtbngs. On display the customer will find a vast assortment of items, but not ordinary items. Counterfeit products will be on show as ff they were for sale but instead of a pri￿ tag they will carry wamings. The warnings will I help consumers dI￿0Ver truths about (Xjunterfeit products and consumer scams. In and around the shops the consumer will also be able to read story boards, for example, telling of how criminals, profit and reinvest proceeds of sales in further Griminal activities, or about a seven year old child who was sadly killed by a fake phone charger.
