Section D Achievements and performance One of the charity's objects is to promote the efficiency of the police, the administrats'on of the law and good crtizenship and greater public participation in the prevention and solution of crime, in particular in relation to counterfeiting and consumer protection. To start achieving some of this, the charty is working on a novel ¢oncepl to: 1. Dissuade the general public from purthasing counterfeiilfake products and items. 2. Educate the general public on the dangers of acquiring counterfeitrfake products and items. 3. Inform the general public on how thèy may protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year The charity has named its concept he Fake Shop.. at is The Fake Shop? Wrth so many High Street shops closing down there isn't a shortage of potential sites to run The Fake Shop Project. In essence, the charity proposes to put back into use empty stores in towns and ctties, with the participation of local trading standards, police. local authorities and other stake holders, and to furnish them with basic shop fittings. On display the customer will find a vast assortmenl of items, bui notordinary items. Counterfett products will b8 on show as rf they were for sale but instead of a prTrce tag they will carry wamings. Section D Achievements and performance In and around the shops the consumer will also be able to read story boards. for example, telling of how criminals profft and reinvest proceeds of sales in further criminal activrties, or about a seven year old child who was sadly killed by a fake phone charger. Infomiative leaflets will be handed out to all members of the public. They can be product spectfic rf in the Borough Council area there is a particular problem with fake cosmetic products, for example. Trained volunteers will be on hand to discuss relative issues with the public and give advice where appropriate. The charity has trialled rts first Fake Shop with resounding sUC￿S. The public was most enthusiasts'c and showed genuine interest as did the local authority and police.
