FRIENDSQF AGM * May 2023 Chairnian's Report This is the Annual Report for the year ending 31 December 2022, the eighth full year since the Frlends was launched. The charity has been estsblished as a Charitable Incorporated Organlsation ICIO), registration number 1161272, with the followlng objectlve: to preserve and protett St James the Less Church for the benefit of the public as a place of worship and such other charitable purposes as the Trustees deem appropriate. A close working relatlonship has been estsblished with the Parochlal Church Councll IPCC) to Identify improvements and modificatlons to the church which are benefiaal in achievin8 8reater use of the churth buildings for both reli8i0U5 and secular purposes. In addjtion, the Frlends are involved In ralsing funds to finance developments agreed by the PCC. Membershlp of the Friends is available to anyone who supports its objettives and is interested In furtherin81ts purposes. General meetin8s of the Friends are held bi-monthly to whSch all members are InNited. Members are also Invited to tske part In the work of the various sub-8roups. The Secretsry of the Friends a150 maintsins a database of supporters who wlsh to be kept informed of the activitlesof the Friends but do notwish to playa more active role in the running of the charity. These supporters are welcome to attend all our meetings but do not have voting rights, All databases are maintsined in accordance with the General Data Protettion Regulations. FRIENDSOF Flnanclal Review, A copy of the Flnanoal Statement is attached to this report and will be discussed fully later in this meeting under the item of the Treasurer's Report. Events: Followln8 upon the Covid restrictions the Friends were able to stsrt meeting agaln in March 2022 and immediately started plannin8 for a not-for-profit community event to trlebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Malesty Queen Elizabeth11. In conjunrtion with the PCC and by kind permission of Mrs Phyllis Holt. a 8arden party was held in the grounds of The Old Rertory. Invltations were sent to all residents in the area covered by the church newsletter and approximately IC(I people of all ages 8athered on Sunday. 5 June 2022 to enjoy a convlvial afternoon with music and a wonderful and generous Jacob's Join. On 22nd Ottober, an audience of 70 attended a very enjoyable concert by Leyland Brass Band raislng £565.41. Thls concert had ori8inally been planned for October 2020 so we were deli8hted to welcome the Brass Band back to the church and, as in prevlous vislts, they had the audience tspplng thelr feet and swayin8 in thelr seats. Following the concert, light refreshments were served by the members of the Events Committee which were greatly enjoyed by band and audience alike. As a charlty we are indebted to the members of our ICM) Club and Its adminlstrator, Sue Wood, for ensuring that our funds continue to 8row to the tune of over £4,000 durin8 the year and we are very 8rateful for thls sUPPOrt. December 2022 saw members of the Friends and the PCC unite to enjoy a Christmas meal at The Brld8e Inn. Out8oln8S: No Grants were paid to the PCC during the year.
