The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31st March 2023. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities' issued in March 2005.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT GOVERNING DOCUMENT

The charity is controlled by its governing document, and constitutes a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

Risk management

The trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error.

CONSTITUTION

The Charity is constituted under a CIO Foundation Constitution dated 2015 and our Charity number is 1161241, on the central register of the Charity Commission of England and Wales.

INTRODUCTION

The principal objective of the Charity is the promotion for the public benefit of urban or rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation (and in particular West Hendon). Our purpose is to raise standards and influencing our society. We provide grants to advance recreational facilities enabling the population who by reason of their youth, poverty and social and economic circumstances have need of such facilities.

METHOD OF APPOINTMENT OR ELECTION OF TRUSTEES

Trustee selection methods including details of any constitutional provisions e.g. election to post or name of any person or

body entitled to appoint one or more trustees Para 1.25 The Board can consist of 7 trustees.

Every trustee shall be appointed for a maximum term of three years.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document

To provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation in the interest of social welfare and with the object of improving the conditions of life of the residents of the Area of Benefit – West Hendon estate, especially those residents who by youth, age, infirmity or disablement, poverty or social or economic circumstances may have need for or benefit from such facilities.

Summary of the main activities

To promote West Hendon Community Trust Fund ’ s work, their service and offer to the residents on the estate.

To offer assistance to the residents of West Hendon with completing forms and ensuring applicants understood the funding eligibility.

To support the Board of Trustees with grant and project management administration so that they have all of the information

they need to decide on applications received so that they can decide whether or not to award that meet the Trust ’ s purposes:

  1. Relieve poverty.

  2. Support with hardship.

  3. Provide educational, wellbeing, volunteering opportunities for the adults in the community.

  4. Provide activities suitable for the children and young people that are educational, recreational and stimulating.

  5. 17 cheques were processed towards this aim, the sum distributed was £ 19,106.

  1. Yes, trustees are made aware of their role and responsibilities. They are guided by the Constitution.

  2. Conflict of Interests are declared and they have a copy of the Code of Conduct .

Achievements and Performance

The Trustees of the West Hendon Community Trust Fund met 2 times during this financial year instead of the usual 4. One meeting was not quorate.

There was a changeover of Councillors appointed to the Trust Fund owing to the elections and ward changes. The new Councillors attended their first meeting in October 2022.

Two new members joined.

The Trustees met in this financial year, to review the plans of the charity and make decisions organisational applications received.

Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period Cash funds of £138,995.00.

The trust holds no reserves.

Reasons for holding zero reserves

The Trust spends money very judiciously considering the needs of the beneficiaries of the West Hendon estate and does not have a need to have reserves at this time.

There are no uncertainties about the charity ’ s ability to continue as a going concern.

The charity ’ s Principal Sources of Funds

WHCTF was setup in 2015 through a request by Barratt Metropolitan Ltd Liability Partnership (BMLLP)

Barratt Metropolitan LLP is required to make financial contributions in accordance with a set formula as the regeneration of the estate being carried out.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of West Hendon Community Trust Fund for the year ended 31 March 2023.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. - examine the accounts under Section 145 of the 2011 Act

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

• the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached
