TRUSTEES, REPORT
The trustees present their annual report with the financial stotements of the charity for the year ended 30,
June 2024.
Con5tltution and objects ft>r the public benefit
The charity is governed by Its cor15titution, adopted in March 2015. The constitution contains no re5trlctlons.
It is administered by a committee, members of which are elerted at the Annual General Meeting each year.
Induction trainlng is provided for all new Trustees.
The trustees confirm that they have made reference to the guidance of the Charlties Commission general
guidance on public benefits when reviewing their aims, objective5 and future activltles of the charitv.
The objects of the charlty are to educate the public of Abbots Langley and surrounding areas in, and increase
their appreciation of, the operatic and dramatic arts, in particular but not exclusively through..
Supporting the cultural and community life of Abbots Lan8ley and surrounding areas and to provide
cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities for all members of the community,.
Producing ond presenting opera5, musicals and plays in which the community ha5 the opportunlty
to participate not only as members of the audlence, but also through membership of the charlty as
active participants,.
Providing other opportunities. including concerts, workshops and open evenings, as well a5 Other
related activities for members and, where approprlate, non-members.
Review of the Development. Actlvltles and Achlevements of the Charlty, and how the Charlty dellvers
public beneflt
The surplus for the year amounted to £1,396 as activities returned to normal post-COVID with a major
production at the Watford Palace Theatre in February 2024 and a smaller scale production at the Henderson
Hub In Abbots Langley.
Reserves
The accumulated funds as at 30, June 2024 were £37.304 of which £nil related to designated funds.
The trustees have determined that an appropriate level of available reserves should be equivalent to at least
twelve months fixed costs.
Investments
The charit￿5 constitution requires its a55ets to be invested In Great Britain, in bank accounts or safe interest-
bearing Securities.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity for the year ended 30, June
2024, which are set out on pa8es I to 14.
Responsibllltles and basls of report
As the charity's trustees. you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance wlth the
requirements of the Charities Act 20111.the Arfl.
I report in respect of my examination of the charivs accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act
and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Dirertlons given by the Charity
Commission under section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act.
Independent examlnerfs statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attentlon in
onnection wlth the examination whlch gives me cause to believe that, In any material respect:
the accountlng records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charitles Att,. or
the accounts did not accord with the accountln8 records; or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of
accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than anv
requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fairf view which is not a matter considered as part of
an Independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connectlon with the examination to which
attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be
reached.

Major rlsks
The trustees have taken steps to identify the major risks to which the charity Is exposed and systems have
been established to mitigate those risks. The COVID-19 global pandemic was not a risk that the trustees
could have foreseen and mitigated in advance.
Future Development
The officers do not anticipate and changes to the future development of the ¢haritVs operations.
Trustees. Responslbllltles In relation to the Flnan¢ial Statements
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees. Report and the finan¢lal statements in accordance
wlth applicable low and United Kingdom Accounting Standards.
Law applicable to charities in England and Wales require the trustees to prepare flnanclal statements for
each financial year which give a true and fair view of the State of affairs of the charity and of the Incoming
resources and application of resources of the charity for that perlod. In preparlng these financial statements,
the trustees are required to:
Select suitable accountln8 policies and then apply them consistently;
Make Judgement5 and estimates that are reasonable and prudent,.
Observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP:
State whether applicable accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any material
departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements,.
Prepare the financial statements on the golng concern basls unless It is inappropriate to presLtme
the charity will contlnue in operatlon.
The trustees are responsible for keeping accounting record5 which disclose with reasonable accuracy at anv
time the financial positiors of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements complv
with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence
for takin8 reasonable Steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS
Accounting policies
The account5 have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance
with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 (issued
in October 20191- (Charities SORP IFRS 10211, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charitie5 Act 2011. Assets and liabilities are initiallv
reco8nised at historic cost or transaction value unless othernvise stated in the relevant atcounting
poliry note.
The financlal statements have been prepared to give a 'true and falr, view and have therefore
necessarily departed from the extant Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to the
extent required to provide a 'true and fairf view. This departure has involved following the
Statement of Recommended Practice.. Accounting and Reporting by Charities applicable to charities
preparlng their financial statements in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable
in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 issued on 16 July 2014 rather than the Statement of
Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charitles effe¢tlve from l April 2005, which
has slnce been withdrawn.
All expenditure Is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been cla5s1fled under headings that
aggregate all costs to that category.
Reconclllatlon wlth prevlou5 Generally Accepted Accountlng Practlce
In preparing the accounts, the trustees have considered whether in applying the accountin8 policles
required by FRS 102 and the Charities SORP FRS 102 the restatement of comparative items was
required. The trustees concluded that no such restatement was required. The date of transition to
FRS 102 was l January 2015.
Goln8 Concern
At the time of approving the financial statements. the trustees have a reasonable expectation that
the charity has adequate resouros to continue In operational existence for the foreseeable future.
Thus the trustees continue to adopt the goin8 concern basis of accounting In preparing the financial
statements.
Income
Voluntary income including donations are recognised where there is erstitlement, certainty of
receipt and the amount can be measured with sufficient reliability.
Subscription income Is reco8nised when received from members.
Production income represents the receipts net of expenditure for prodLSCtions performed by the
charity in the year. A breakdown of the income and expenditure is shown in the notes to the
accounts.

Expenditure and irre¢overable VAT
Expenditure of recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to make a payment to a
third party, it is probable that settlement will be required ond the amount of the obligation can be
measured reliably.
Irrecoverable VAT is charged as a cost against the activity for which the expenditure wa5 incurred.
Investments
Investments in equity instruments which are not subsidiaries, associates or joint ventures, are
Initially measured at fair value. which is normally the transaction price. Such assets are
subsequently carried at fair value and the changes in fair value are recogni5ed in the profit and loss
a¢count5.
Debtors
Trade and other debtors are reco8nlsed at the settlement amount due after any trade dlscount
offered. Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid after takin8 Into account of any trade
discounts offered.
Cash at bank and In hand
Cash at bank and c05h in hand includes cash and Short term highly liquid Investments with a short
maturity of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar
account.
Flnanclal Instruments
The charity only has financlal liabilities of a klnd that qualifies as a basi¢ financial instrument. 8aslc
flnanci31 instrument5 are initlally reco8nised at transaction value and subsequently measured at
their settlement value,
Credltors and provlslons
Creditors and provisions are recogni5ed where the charity ha5 a present obligation resulting from
past event that will probably result in a transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to
settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors and provisions are normallv
recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade discounts due.
