All of our activities are aimed at the advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with our Basis of Faith through Christian worship, production of Christian literature, teaching and enlightening the public about the Christian faith, raising awareness about the Christian faith, and Christian missionary work, and such other charitable purposes as shall, in the opinion of the Elders further the work of the Church.

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**

We provide a place of Christian worship and education in Formby, both at our premises and through a number of local groups held in people’s homes, and occasionally directly to the local community via open air and one to one sessions. We hold a worship service at the Church every week. During this time we have a Sunday School for ages 1 to 11 and also have crèche facilities available.

Our Church feels very strongly that it has a responsibility and duty to all the 25,000 residents of Formby for their spiritual and social welfare. All our activities are therefore are open to the general public, who are most welcome to attend. In our Sunday service we actively encourage everybody who attends to fill out a connection card so we can follow up with them and understand / help with their needs. We also try to engage with our community as much as possible by street evangelism, and providing a welcoming environment for prayer and worship.

We provide lifts to and from our services and events for the elderly, infirm and disabled as required.

The Village Church Formby has been a CIO since 2015. The Trustees are familiar with the requirements of Section 17(5) of the Charities Act and the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008.

**Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)**

You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about:

- policy on grantmaking;

- policy programme related investment;

- contribution made by volunteers.

Section D                      Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

This year saw a return to many pre-Covid ministries within the church. We moved away from online services and meeting back to in-person gatherings.

Our Sunday worship service is a public meeting which has between 20-50 in attendance. These meetings include a specific Children’s programme, with varying formats including family services and a more informal cafe style service. The focus is on music, Bible teaching, prayer, service, and community.

Each week members gather for a prayer meeting with an attendance of around 4.

Two Small Groups meet in people’s home where we study the Bible, pray and encourage one another. These groups have between 8-14 people in attendance each week.

Mid-Week Meals is a regular ministry on Thursday evenings where we provide free food for church members, friends, and those within the community who have a need. At this time this is also a warm space for people to gather. We have as many as 35 at these meetings.

Special events at Christmas, Easter and various other points in the year saw many gather to worship.

Special events including baptisms and new members were also exciting throughout the year.

The church is able to use a portion of its regular donations to support the Christian missionary work of two additional workers and their families.

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

The Village Church Formby, formerly Formby Baptist Church, has been blessed with a number of small bequests and good reserves from the period when it had no paid employees. Currently its monthly expenditure exceeds its income, therefore we have set a minimum reserves level of £20,000. On 31/3/22 we had over double this amount available.

**Details of any funds materially in deficit**
