All of our activities are aimed at the advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with our Basis of Faith through Christian worship, production of Christian literature, teaching and enlightening the public about the Christian faith, raising awareness about the Christian faith, and Christian missionary work, and such other charitable purposes as shall, in the opinion of the Elders further the work of the Church.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
We provide a place of Christian worship and education in Formby, both at our premises and through a number of local groups held in people’s homes, and occasionally directly to the local community via open air and one to one sessions. We hold a worship service at the Church every week. During this time we have a Sunday School for ages 1 to 11 and also have crèche facilities available.
Our Church feels very strongly that it has a responsibility and duty to all the 25,000 residents of Formby for their spiritual and social welfare. All our activities are therefore are open to the general public, who are most welcome to attend. In our Sunday service we actively encourage everybody who attends to fill out a connection card so we can follow up with them and understand / help with their needs. We also try to engage with our community as much as possible by street evangelism, and providing a welcoming environment for prayer and worship.
We provide lifts to and from our services and events for the elderly, infirm and disabled as required.
The Village Church Formby has been a CIO since 2015. The Trustees are familiar with the requirements of Section 17(5) of the Charities Act and the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
This year reflected the impact of Covid-19 upon the operations of the church. During lockdowns much of church activity had to come to a complete stop while all other aspects were moved online in a digital format. When rules allowed meetings were held in public on Sunday morning’s at 10:30am in accordance with a thorough and strict risk assessment.
The Village Church Formby continued a weekly prayer meeting throughout the year, however this meeting was carried out via Zoom. It was attended by around 8 individuals each week.
Two Small Groups also continued weekly again using the Zoom format. They were attended by around 20 people each week.
Our work with children and young people was effectively stopped, with the exception of occasional resources sent to home and a few Zoom events.
The Mid-Week Meals ministry was forced to stop because of restrictions.
We were unable to continue educational courses about the Christian faith during this period.
The church is able to use a portion of its regular donations to support the Christian missionary work of two additional workers and their families.
In July 2020 Mr John Davies resigned as a Trustee as he had relocated to the Morecambe Bay area. He has been replaced by Mr Gary Wallis.
