“ Hope Restored” Charity- Trustees report 2022/2023

At the beginning of the year, saw a need to formulate and set in place several policies to enable the Charity to claim grants. With the support of CVSC, this work is ongoing.

On operations. we continue to support a high number of those in need, around the Llandudno area. During 2022/2023 we employed one full-time member of staff. We have four volunteers, and five trustees.

Donations of food for the foodbank continue to be very generous during the year, at the various food donation collection points throughout the town. We are very grateful to the Llandudno Rotary Club, that has set up and serviced several food donation points around the town for the Charity. Llandudno Rotary Club has also given the Charity weekly donations of food items, funded in part from donations from a Rotary Club in Texas.

Our work at the food bank is made possible by the generosity of donors, personal, charitable and from local businesses. We are grateful for the support we receive both in financial and food donations.

It is difficult to see if there will be a reduction in demand next year. Inflation may be easing, but that is of scant consolation to those on low incomes, particularly as the evidence suggests that food inflation is proving more difficult to reduce.

With a changing landscape in terms of 2023 Charity Commission guidance on fiduciary duty placed on Trustees, the charity has been presented with the a challenge of reviewing policies and practices. From communication with the accountant signing off these financials in this annual report, there is a need that changes will be required to meet the fiduciary requirements set by the Charity Commission. In this there will need to be changes to financial structure and interface with the accountant. These will be implemented before the end of the next reporting year.

Finally, myself as Chair and the Trustees acknowledge and very much thank Brenda Fogg and volunteers, who collectively have continued (with the support of Trustees of Hope Restored), to deliver the services to those in need provided by our Charity, in difficult times.
