Alliance for International Development (A-fID)
Trustees’ Annual Report for the Period
From: 01 March 2024 To: 29 February 2025
Charity Name: Alliance for International Development (A-fID)
Charity Registration Number: 1161111
Objectives and Activities
Summary of Purposes
The Alliance for International Development (A-fID) is dedicated to fostering sustainable development through education, agriculture, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives, as well as youth-focused awareness programmes. Our goal is to empower communities with the resources, knowledge, and opportunities necessary for long-term growth and resilience.
Main Activities During the Reporting Period
During the financial year 1 March 2024 to 29 February 2025, A-fID did not carry out any funded programme activities. The charity received no income and incurred no expenditure during this period. As a result, the education, WASH, and youth awareness programmes reported in the previous year were not operational during the year under review.
Notwithstanding this period of dormancy in formal programme delivery, the charity was able to sustain a modest but meaningful presence in the community through the dedication of its volunteers. Free tutoring classes were maintained on a twice-monthly basis for a small number of beneficiaries, delivered entirely on a voluntary basis and at no cost to the charity. This activity ensured continuity of educational support for those beneficiaries and preserved the goodwill and relationships that underpin the charity’s longer-term objectives.
Statement on Public Benefit
The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities. The volunteer-led tutoring maintained during the year provided a direct educational benefit to the beneficiaries concerned, consistent with the charity’s purposes.

-
Preserved community relationships and beneficiary engagement despite a year of nil income and nil expenditure.
-
Ensured continuity of the charity’s educational mission, providing a foundation from which to resume fuller programme delivery in future periods.
Challenges
The reporting period was characterised by inactivity in formal programme delivery. The absence of income during the year meant that no funded projects could be undertaken, and the charity’s activity was necessarily limited to what could be sustained on a voluntary basis.
Financial and Operational Challenges
With no income received during the year, the charity was unable to commit resources to its education, WASH, or youth awareness programmes. The trustees recognise the need to re-establish reliable and compliant income streams, and to strengthen financial planning and controls, in order to resume active programme delivery. Work continues on improving the charity’s cash-handling and financial-control arrangements so that future funds can be received, held, and disbursed transparently and in line with good practice.
Despite these challenges, A-fID remains committed to its charitable purposes and has taken steps to maintain its community relationships during this dormant period, positioning the charity to resume its programmes once resources allow.
Financial Review
Financial Position
During the financial year ending 29 February 2025, the charity recorded zero income and zero expenditure . The charity did not carry out any funded activities during this period. The tutoring support that was maintained was provided by volunteers and did not give rise to any income or expenditure for the charity.
Principal Sources of Funds
No funds were raised or received during the reporting period.
Reserves Policy
The charity held no reserves during the reporting period, consistent with the absence of income and expenditure. The trustees will keep the reserves position under review as income streams are re-established, with the aim of building an appropriate level of reserves to support the sustainability of future activities.
