The trustees present thelr report and the financial statements of the charity for the period
ended 31 March 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of
Recommended Practice (SORP) 'Accounting and Reportlng by Charities. (FRS 102) In
preparing the annual report and financial statements of the charity.

Th8 charity is governed by a constitution whlch was adopted on 28 October 2014, as amended
on 24 February 2016, and the charlty b constituted by trust. The power of appointing new trustee$
is vegted in the existing trugte88
All Irustees give thelr tlme voluntarily and recelve no remuneration. They all make a significant
ntributs'on to the successful runnlng of the chartty, in partlcular by attending meeting8 regularly
to ensure the ¢harity 18 operated appropriately and any 18$u¢¥ are qulckly and adequately
resolved.

The charity's objective is to advance the appreciatlon. wider understanding and education of the
publlc in respect of muslc, musical vnrks and composers with particular reference to the music,

Maintalning the pattern set up durlng the COVID pandemlc, the trust continued to hold its
meetlngs remotely using videoconferencing. This has now become the trust's default technology
for trustees meetings..
The trust received Income of approximately £85,¢)00 (2023: £38,000) from different sources
including a number of private donations, Gift Aid, royalties and music sales. Expenditure
amounted to some £83,000 (2023.. £38,000). At the year end the trust had a bank balance of just
over £91,000 and liabilitie3 of £1,135 (2023: £1.056).
R•s•rvo8 pollcy:
None of the charity's funds constltuta pern￿nent endomnent. They have been used for grants
which the trustee8 have thought fit to make.
The trust alms to maintain a minimum bank balance of £10,000 to cater ft)r unplanned c08ts,
expenses and unforeseen opportunities to further Its objectives. From time to time the trustees
wll reserve additlonal financial assets to build up funds for slgnificant events such as recordings,
performances and concerts.
A8 they did durlng the COVID pandemic the trustees continued to make wants to young
musicians who have been typesetting and proof-reading muslcal scores of Stephen Dodgson'$
muslc, rather than accumulate needlessly large res•rv•s.
Rlsk management:
The trustee8 have examlned the major strategic, financial, buslne8s and operatvJnal risks
which the charity faces and confim that systems have been established and measures
adopted to minimise theye risks.
The Treasurer reports on the charlty's financial status at each trustee8' meetlng and frequently
monitors the charity's financial assets. The charity's financi81 controls were revlewed, updated
8nd approved by the trustees in March 2024.

The trustees are re5ponslble for preparing the Trustees, Report and the financial statements in
accordance wth applicable law and United lfjngdom Accounting Standards including Flnanclal
Reportlng Standard 102= The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic
of Ireland (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practlcel.
The law appllcable to charitie8 in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial
ststements for each financial year whlch glve a true and fair view of Ihe state of affairs of the
charity and of the income and expenditure of the charity for that perlod. In preparlng these
financial statements, the trustees are required to..
select 8Ultable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.,
observe the methods and principles in the Charltles SORP..
make judgements and accountin9 estimat•s that are reasonable and prudent;
state thether applicable accounting standards have been followed. subject to any
mat8rial departures dlsclosed and explained in the financi81 statements, and
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate
to presume that the charlty vlll contSnue In buslness.
The trustees are responsible for malntalnlng proper accountlng records which disclose with
reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to 8nsur8
that the financial Statements comply wSth the Charltles Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and
Reports) Regulations 2008, and the provi$ion$ of tha trust doodlconstltutlon. They are also
responsible f¢r safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking roasonabl• stéps
lor the preventlon and detection of fraud and other irregularltles.
The trustees are respon81ble for the malntenance and integrity of the charity and financial
infomiation included on the charRy's webslte. Legi31ation in the United lfjngdom governing the
preparation and dissemination of financial statements may differ from legislation Fn other
Iurlsdl￿on8.

I report to the trustees on my examlnatlon of the accounts of The Stephen Dodgson Charitable
Trust for the year 8nd8d 31 March 2024 whlch are set out on pages 6 to 8.

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for th8 preparation of the accounts in
accordance with the requlrements of the Chartties Act 2011 (the Act,).
I report in respect of my examlnation of the Twstee's account8 Carried OLrt under section 145 of
the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directlons
given by the Charity Commission under section 145{5)(b) of the 2011 Act.

I have completed my examlnation. I confinn that no material matters have come to my attention
in connection with the examlnatlon giving me cause to believe that in any materlal r88pect:
accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by 8ectlon 130 of the
Act., or
2. the acxounts do Mt accord wrth those records.
I have no concerns and have come a¢r083 no other matters in connection with the examination to
which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understsndlng of the
