The Charity becatne a Charitable Incoryorated Organisauon on 9 March 2015. The Clwity
came ￿gIStered with the Ch￿Iry Commission on this date, number 1160799.
The objects of the charity are the relief of people affected by detnentia by..
l. Supportlng them in achieving recognition of their specific needs.
2. Advising their families in order to find appropriate Se￿ICe5 for them"
3. Ensuring statutory services and other relevant oTgaDisatioDs are aware of their needs
and the needs of their carers: and
4. Advancing the education of the general public in all areas relating to dementia.
Access to the holl￿$ has contiTJued to be Seve￿lY restricted this year due to the after effetts of
coronaviru& VÉsiting has been limiied to one or two close relatives ot the ￿sIdentS who were able to
visit by appointment in a safe space.
This has tneant that there has been no I4)[￿unity for the ch￿lty to be involved in any of the usual
aaivities.
We bave provided help and funding for activities to enrich the lives of the residents but on a
much more limited basis than previously due to the circumstances.
The fundtng ft>r the second"Magic Table" for Birch Avenue ￿nIaIns within the Clwity's accounts.
(A Magic Table is a little box thai can be motsDted on the ceiling above a table within the
n￿￿l￿g hoJnÈ. In the box is a high-qualiry projector, infrared sen50TS, a speaker and a
processor thai work together to projeci games onio the table. Because the colourful objects
respoThl to hand and arn] ￿(￿Vements, residents caEJ play wilh the light itself.
The company which supplies the tsble develop gaJnes for specific taryet grollps, such as

Eyople with deEDentia. They believe thai play can contribute io everyone's health and quality
of life. They ai]n to make play accessible for people ]iving with dementia and in that way. to
Inspire as many peiwle a5 possible to have fun and get tnoving. The Magic Table itnproves
the level of activitie5 in care ho]nes and helps people to lÉve better lÉves with dErnentia. It
connects olderpeople ill the late slage of their dementia journey wÉth each other and their
surroundings. all the white stimulating movement. The Sa￿e5 can ￿ played both
independendy aDd with supervASiOll.)
We conthaed B￿ch Avenue and ihe supplier in June of this year to establish whether the table could
be installed. To dale we have still not ￿ceiVed permission to go ahead and tnstall the table and we a
Clu￿ndY waitÉng to hear whether we can ￿0ve the pioject forward.
We are indebted to the Freetllasoll's and family donojs who made this possible. Having access to
these tsbles pmvides a ￿at benefit to our tEsidents.

We continue to provide help and support to relatives who are navigating their way through the
Continuing Healthcare process. Changes have been made to improve the process but it remains
conht5ing and irytpenetrable for many tElallves.
We have provided help to relatives who are finding the post covid visiting rules in the home5
difficult to accept.
We still need to install the Magic Table into our second Nursing Home. We would like to do
thi5 Within a reasonable timescale. Access to visitors remains restricted and we do not know
when restrictions wkll be lifted so that life can return to something more nonnal in the hO￿eS.
The C]wity has P￿e reserves of £5,575 at the end of the year (2021.. £4,500). The Charity aiins to
hold sufficient reserves to pay outstanding Credito￿ which is £ML (2021.. £770).

challenging the Sheffield CCG over its assessment process as well as raising funds for a

This fund was establislwi to purchase two'magie Tables" vA]ich provide stirnulus and
social activity for people with mid-to-late stage dementia. One table was purchased for
Woodland View in the last fmancial year. The second table for Birch Avenue will be
purchased as soon as COVED restrictiOll5 allow.
Birch Avenue Support 67 group have placed £4.600 from their funds into these accounis as
pan payment for the purchase of the table.
