Church Lane, Trowbridge, Willshire BA14 OEH. The parish is pail of the DI0Se of Salisbury within the Church of England. St. John's Parochial Church Council IPCCI is a body corporate IPCC Powers Measure 1956, Church Representation Rules 20061 and a registered charity, number1160751. Membership Members of the PCC are elected by the Annual Parochial Church Meeting {APCMI, appointed ex-officio, or co-opted. The following have served as members Sin APCM 2024. The PCC is commilled lo enabling as many people as possible lo worship at St John's and lo become part of our parish community.11 maintains an overview of worship throughout the parish. Fabric issues The PCC is responsible for maintaining the fabric of the Church. Our main concern at present is the leaking Vesty roof. We have a quinquennial survey due in the next few weeks hopefully this will not highlight any more issues. Page 1
Sit J(D]Elli's cIurQ]hL StudLey Sadly since our last APCM we have lost two members of our church both on the same night. Martin Barnwell who had been worshipping with us for a few years and our LLM Mike Bridges. I have included Mike in this report because he contributed so much during this year. Achievements and Performance After Rev Alaslair Wood left early last year we are now in the middle of an Interregnum which has proved lo be a very steep learning curve for all concerned. We not only had lo try and understand a rather confusing computer system but also how lo organise a church with all the different services. We would like to thank all the priests who have taken services during the year and given us so much variety and especially Rev Liz Gifford who is also taking the Baptism Services. Despite not having a resident vicar Christmas at st John's was busy as usual. Thanks to Liz and Mike we had Nine Lessons and Carols plus Midnight Mass and a Christmas Day Service. We also a capacity Christingle Servi Christmas Eve afternoon taken by Mike and for the first time did not use real candles so there was no danger of anyone catching fire. The plastic one lit up and everyone approved of them. We also managed our first Easter without a vicar with a number of services. Soup run We continue to support the soup run, providing food and hol drinks lo homeless and needy people. We are al present only covering two Saturday evenings a month as we now only have teams. Food Bank The much needed donations for Storehouse are gratefully reIVed and collected in our Lady Chapel and the Church Hall. We need a volunteer lo lake the donations to the Food Bank please. It does not have lo be the same. person every time Chat Café A warm welcome for our regular visitors who come, and those yel to I Mondays and Wednesdays fjoam lo 11'.30 am Parish Centre The parish centre continues to host both fundraising and income events. Among them were the Souvenir Auction with fish & chip supper, and of course our quiz night. Our regular lettings continue with a number of local organisalions now using the hall regularly plus occasional Baptism and private party The local authority holds meetings, and also hires the hall for election days. Deanery Synod Three members ot our PGL sil on the Deanery Synod, Dawn Sawyer, Denise Collinson, Wendy Thorne. Heather Thompson attends the meetings as part of the St John's family. Reserves Policy 11 is PCC policy to keep a balance on unrestiicled funds which equates lo al least six months unrestricted payments, lo cover emergency situations that may arise from time to time.
