Deliver engaging awareness talks and showcase awareness exhibitions/stands in public and corporate places, handing out self-help materials such as leaflets, posters and step-by-step checking cards. Provide financial and peer support to boys and men who have been directly affected by testicular cancer via telephone, email, social media and peer support groups. ## **What difference do we make?** 1. People are becoming more aware of testicular cancer and their health in general. 2. Through personal experiences, we inspire and encourage people to check themselves and visit their GP. This could prevent more serious cases or even death. 3. Provide financial and peer support to those directly affected by testicular cancer, which relieves stress and worry. ## **Charitable Aims** 1. To promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers of testicular cancer. 2. To provide financial assistance, support, education and practical advice to those affected by testicular cancer. 3. To advance the education of the general public in all areas relating to testicular cancer. ## **Mission Statement** “Baggy Trousers UK exists to make a positive impact on the lives of boys and men affected by testicular cancer.” ## **Trustee Board:** - Robert Roughley (Chair) - Jessica Rae (Treasurer) - Jack Broadley - Ian Arnison-Philips - Harry Johns - Rich Carrington - Joined 26/09/2024 Page 2 Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a term of 1 year by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. ## **Policy** **Charity reserve:** The charity aims to hold 3 months of running costs as a reserve. Currently, all income is invested in our continuous efforts to provide support and educate males on testicular cancer. **Charity expenditure:** Cash expenditure supports our key objectives and so the cash that we spend must contribute to providing support to males that have been diagnosed and raising awareness of testicular cancer; this includes all our fundraising, events, activities and charity development. **Equality:** We believe in equality in treatment and opportunity regardless of age, sex, religion, culture or colour of skin. **Founding principle:** Irrespective of race, religion, age or ability, our founding principle is to educate every person, regarding testicular cancer. **Complaints policy:** The Senior Management Team will deal with complaints in the first instance. If this fails to reach a resolution, the board will be advised, and the Chairperson will take over the complaint, where necessary legal advice will be sought. **Registered status:** Baggy Trousers UK is a registered charity in England and Wales. Page 3 ## **Trustees’ Annual Report** ## **Successful Partnerships and Achievements** The National Lottery Community Fund, Awards for All, awarded Baggy Trousers UK £19,620 in funding that covers two years of therapy sessions for people affected by testicular cancer. It's difficult to put into words what that means in practice. In 2024-25, we delivered 192 one-hour therapy sessions, giving people the space to process their diagnosis and everything that comes with it, with a qualified therapist and at no cost to them. December 2024 brought some welcome news on the fundraising front. The TLJ Group made a generous donation of £5,000 to Baggy Trousers UK — a significant contribution that made a real difference to what we were able to do this year. ## **Challenges and Operational Adjustments** Running a therapy programme alongside everything else we do takes real effort from a small team. This year that meant making sure every session was well-supported and that the funding was used as well as it could be. Fundraising for our other activities remained a challenge, as it usually does, but we kept things moving and stayed focused on what matters. ## **Outreach and Community Engagement** This was a busy year for outreach. We were in schools, colleges, and workplaces, in person and online talking about testicular cancer, encouraging people to get checked, and making sure that anyone with questions or concerns knows where to find support. Some of the people we reached this year had never heard of Baggy Trousers UK before, which is exactly the point. Phone and email support was available throughout the year for anyone who needed it. ## **Public Benefit Through Our Activities** 192 therapy sessions. That's 192 hours of proper, professional support given to people who needed it and who wouldn't otherwise have been able to access it. That's what the lottery funding made possible, and it's something the whole team is genuinely proud of. Awareness work continued alongside this, campaigns, talks, and resources reaching people across the region and helping to normalise conversations about testicular cancer that too often don't happen. Page 4 ## **Service Utilisation and Impact** Across our services this year, therapy, peer support, phone and email, we were there for people at some genuinely difficult moments. The demand hasn't let up, and we don't expect it to. What we can say is that for everyone who got in touch, we did our best to help. ## **Gratitude and Acknowledgment** A particular thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund, Awards for All, whose £19,620 award has made such a tangible difference this year, and to the TLJ Group for their generous £5,000 donation in December. To everyone else who donated, fundraised, or gave their time — it all adds up, and none of this works without you. There's another year of funded therapy ahead. Accounting Policies** ## **Basis of preparation** The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102). The Charity meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy note(s). The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation ## **Income** Income is recognised when the charity has entitlement to the funds, any performance conditions attached to the item(s) of income have been met, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. Legacies are included in the SOFA when receipt is probable, that is, when there has been grant of probate, the executors have established that there are sufficient assets in the estate and any conditions attached to the legacy are either within the control of the charity or have been met. Income received in advance of the provision of specified services it is deferred until the criteria for income recognition is met. ## **Interest Receivable** Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured reliably by the charity: this is normally upon notification of the interest paid or payable by the bank. ## **Fund Accounting** Unrestricted funds are available to spend on activities that further any of the purposes of the charity. Designated funds are unrestricted funds of the charity which the trustees have decided at their discretion to set aside to use for a specific purpose. Restricted funds are donations which the donor has specified are to be solely used for a particular purpose / area of the charity's work or for specific projects. ## **Expenditure and Irrecoverable VAT** Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to make a payment to a third party, it is probable that settlement will be required and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Irrecoverable VAT is charged as a cost against the activity for which the expenditure was incurred. ## **Tangible Fixed Assets** Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Assets over £100 are capitalised. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows: Computer Equipment - over 3 years ## **Cash at bank and in hand** Cash at bank and cash in hand includes cash and short term highly liquid investments with a short maturity of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account. ## **Creditors** Creditors and provisions are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors and provisions are normally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade discounts due. ## **Trustees Remuneration** None of the Trustees or related parties received any remuneration or benefit from the charity during the year and no expenses were reimbursed. ## **Employee Costs and Benefits** No staff were employed by the charity in the accounting period. -| |---|---|---| ## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees** I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Baggy Trousers UK for the year ended 31st March 2025. ## **Responsibilities and basis of the report** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act"). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the financial statements presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial statements, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. ## **Independent Examiner's Statement** I have completed my examination.
