## **About Baggy Trousers UK**
## **What We Do**
Raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer, actively promoting the benefits of early detection and encouraging boys and men to visit their GP if they detect any of the signs or symptoms.
Deliver engaging awareness talks and showcase awareness exhibitions/stands in public and corporate places, handing out self-help materials such as leaflets, posters and step-by-step checking cards.
Provide financial and peer support to boys and men who have been directly affected by testicular cancer via telephone, email, social media and peer support groups.
## **What difference do we make?**
1. People are becoming more aware of testicular cancer and their health in general.
2. Through personal experiences, we inspire and encourage people to check themselves and visit their GP. This could prevent more serious cases or even death.
3. Provide financial and peer support to those directly affected by testicular cancer, which relieves stress and worry.
## **Charitable Aims**
1. To promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers of testicular cancer.
2. To provide financial assistance, support, education and practical advice to those affected by testicular cancer.
3. To advance the education of the general public in all areas relating to testicular cancer.

Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a term of 1 year by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
## **Policy**
**Charity reserve:** The charity aims to hold 3 months of running costs as a reserve. Currently, all income is invested in our continuous efforts to provide support and educate males on testicular cancer.
**Charity expenditure:** Cash expenditure supports our key objectives and so the cash that we spend must contribute to providing support to males that have been diagnosed and raising awareness of testicular cancer; this includes all our fundraising, events, activities and charity development.
**Equality:** We believe in equality in treatment and opportunity regardless of age, sex, religion, culture or colour of skin.
**Founding principle:** Irrespective of race, religion, age or ability, our founding principle is to educate every person, regarding testicular cancer.
**Complaints policy:** The Senior Management Team will deal with complaints in the first instance. If this fails to reach a resolution, the board will be advised, and the Chairperson will take over the complaint, where necessary legal advice will be sought.

## **Successful Partnerships and Achievements**
This year, we marked a significant milestone for our organisation, thanks to the collaborative efforts with Robinsons Brewery and the Tim Bacon Foundation. We successfully attained our goal of providing therapy sessions for individuals affected by testicular cancer.
This initiative funded 192 one-hour therapy sessions, directly benefiting 32 individuals. Our heartfelt gratitude extends to Robinsons Brewery and the Tim Bacon Foundation for turning a long-term aspiration into a tangible reality.
## **Challenges and Operational Adjustments**
Despite our success in service delivery and awareness campaigns, we faced considerable challenges in fundraising. These financial constraints led to the difficult decision of making our part-time Admin Assistant and Marketing Assistant positions redundant.
The fundraising difficulties also impacted our ability to organise large-scale events comparable to those held pre-pandemic. In response, the trustees reaffirmed our commitment to a managed growth strategy, focusing on balancing incoming funds with expenditures while maximising our impact.
## **Outreach and Community Engagement**
Our outreach efforts were robust, with numerous awareness talks delivered to various companies, both in-person and virtually. Our commitment to providing email and telephone support for those affected by testicular cancer remained steadfast.
We express our sincere appreciation to the individuals and businesses who continued their support this year. Their contributions, encompassing fundraising efforts and donations, were instrumental in advancing our mission.
## **Public Benefit Through Our Activities**
Our digital presence was strengthened through online campaigns and the creation of additional digital resources. These materials, targeted at schools, colleges, universities, and businesses, played a crucial role in raising awareness about testicular cancer, emphasising the importance of regular self-examinations and recognising symptoms.

Thanks to Robinsons Brewery's support, we could fund 192 therapy sessions, offering a crucial support system to those impacted by testicular cancer.
Our online support services, including Zoom sessions, telephone, and email communications, reached approximately 47 individuals, significantly enhancing their mental health and well-being.
## **Service Utilisation and Impact**
Our efforts resonated particularly in Northwest England, where students from various schools and colleges actively engaged with our awareness campaigns and virtual talks. Our collaboration with the public sector and businesses throughout England and Wales also saw considerable engagement.
The support services we offer have been a vital lifeline for many individuals impacted by testicular cancer, providing them with much-needed assistance and comfort.
## **Gratitude and Acknowledgment**
As we reflect on this year, we are immensely thankful for the support we've received – time, skills, financial contributions and assistance in our daily operations.
Every form of support has been invaluable in our journey to make a difference in the lives of those impacted by testicular cancer.

## **Notes to the Accounts for the year ending 31st March 2023**
## **1. Accounting Policies**
## **Basis of preparation**
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102).
The Charity meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy note(s).
The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation
## **Income**
Income is recognised when the charity has entitlement to the funds, any performance conditions attached to the item(s) of income have been met, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Legacies are included in the SOFA when receipt is probable, that is, when there has been grant of probate, the executors have established that there are sufficient assets in the estate and any conditions attached to the legacy are either within the control of the charity or have been met.
Income received in advance of the provision of specified services it is deferred until the criteria for income recognition is met.
## **Interest Receivable**
Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured reliably by the charity: this is normally upon notification of the interest paid or payable by the bank.
## **Fund Accounting**
Unrestricted funds are available to spend on activities that further any of the purposes of the charity. Designated funds are unrestricted funds of the charity which the trustees have decided at their discretion to set aside to use for a specific purpose. Restricted funds are donations which the donor has specified are to be solely used for a particular purpose / area of the charity's work or for specific projects.
## **Expenditure and Irrecoverable VAT**
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to make a payment to a third party, it is probable that settlement will be required and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Irrecoverable VAT is charged as a cost against the activity for which the expenditure was incurred.
## **Tangible Fixed Assets**
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Assets over £100 are capitalised. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows:

## **Cash at bank and in hand**
Cash at bank and cash in hand includes cash and short term highly liquid investments with a short maturity of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account.
## **Creditors**
Creditors and provisions are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors and provisions are normally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade discounts due.
## **Trustees Remuneration**
None of the Trustees or related parties received any remuneration or benefit from the charity during the year and no expenses were reimbursed.
## **Employee Costs and Benefits**
The charity employed 2 staff during the accounting period for which remuneration amounted to a total of £2,711.
No other benefits were received by staff during the account period. No employee received benefits in excess of £60,000.
