## **About Baggy Trousers UK**
## **What We Do**
Raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer, actively
promoting the benefits of early detection and encouraging boys and men to visit their GP if they detect any of the signs or symptoms.
Deliver engaging awareness talks and showcase awareness exhibitions/stands in public and corporate places handing out self-help materials such as leaflets, posters and step-by-step checking cards.
Provide financial and peer support to boys and men who have been directly affected by testicular cancer via telephone, email, social media and peer support group.
## **What difference do we make?**
1. People are becoming more aware of testicular cancer and their health in general.
2. Through personal experiences we inspire and encourage people to check themselves and visit their GP, this could prevent more serious cases or even
death.
3. Provide financial and peer support to those directly affected by testicular cancer which relieves stress and worry.
## **Charitable Aims**
1. To promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers of testicular cancer.
2. To provide financial assistance, support, education and practical advice to those affected by testicular cancer.
3. To advance the education of the general public in all areas relating to testicular cancer.

Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a term of 1 year by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
## **Policy**
**Charity reserve:** The charity aims to hold 3 months running costs as a reserve. Currently, all income is invested into our continuous efforts to provide support and educate males on testicular cancer.
**Charity expenditure:** Cash expenditure supports our key objectives and so the cash that we spend must contribute to providing support to males that have been diagnosed and raising awareness of testicular cancer; this includes all our fundraising, events, activities and charity development.
**Equality:** We believe in equality in treatment and opportunity regardless of age, sex, religion, culture or colour of skin.
**Founding principle:** Irrespective of race, religion, age or ability, our founding
principle is to educate every male, and his partner, regarding the various male cancers.
**Complaints policy:** The Senior Management Team will deal with complaints in the first instance, if this fails to reach a resolution the board will be advised and the Chairperson will take over the complaint, where necessary legal advice will be sought.
**Registered status:** Baggy Trousers UK is a registered charity in England and Wales. Charity number: 1160724.

## **Trustees’ Annual Report**
After scaling back the services provided during the pandemic we were able to use secured funds to begin rebuilding the charities activities, after a good start to the year we were able to employ a part time administrator and marketing assistant to resume activities such as our support services and awareness campaigns.
Our focus was to get back to a point before the pandemic, due to funding we weren’t able to organise any of the usual fundraising activities but we were able to carry out a series of online fundraising campaigns which led to a significant increase in donations vs the previous year.
The trustees took the decision to introduce slow growth and balance incoming funds with the expenditure, whilst still having as much impact as possible. We delivered a number of awareness talks to companies both in person and virtually. We continued to provide email and telephone support to those impacted by testicular cancer.
A prosperous partnership with Robinsons Brewery with thanks to the Tim Bacon Foundation, gave us the opportunity to begin planning a therapy service for those impacted by testicular cancer.
We had a number of people that continued to support the work we do, these can be found below. We would like to say a big thank you to all those that fundraised and donated to support the work we do during the year. Here are some of the highlights:
- Daniel Panter raised £330 by not shaving the month of November
- Dale Robertson raised £2,048 from the Berwickers in the Buff Charity Calendar 2022 Fundraiser
- GRM made a donation of £715
- Stephanie Young raffled off one of her handmade upcycled vintage lamps for fathers day and raised £43.89
- Blaine Hancock and a number of his friends were able to do their 100-mile cycling challenge from Long Eaton to Skegness and raised a significant amount on top of what they’d raised before the pandemic
- Joanna Andrews organised a charity football tournament and raised £1,000
- ● We received a £500 donation from Lenna Onto who creates animations from Balls - of clay
- We received a total of 582 donations via JustGiving totalling £13,029.92 including Gift Aid.
- The team at Specsavers Leigh raised almost £4,000 by taking part in the North West Tough Mudder
- Helen King raised just over £1,000 by taking part in a rowing championship

## **How our activities deliver public benefit**
This year we continued to run online campaigns. We produced additional digital resources that were distributed to schools, colleges, universities and businesses, raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer and the importance of regularly self-checking.
We provided online support via Zoom and telephone to around 38 people impacted by testicular cancer, the support has helped towards improving their mental health and reduced social isolation.
## **Who used and benefited from our services**
Students from schools, colleges and universities in and around the North West of England have engaged with our awareness campaigns and virtual talks. We continued to work closely with the public sector and businesses around England and Wales.
People impacted by testicular cancer have engaged with our support services, albeit virtually, this was a lifeline to some of the people that reached out during the pandemic.
We’re forever grateful for everything we have received this year, from time, skills, money and general support with the day to day running of the organisation.

## **1. Accounting Policies**
## **Basis of preparation**
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102).
The Charity meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy note(s).
The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation
## **Income**
Income is recognised when the charity has entitlement to the funds, any performance conditions attached to the item(s) of income have been met, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Legacies are included in the SOFA when receipt is probable, that is, when there has been grant of probate, the executors have established that there are sufficient assets in the estate and any conditions attached to the legacy are either within the control of the charity or have been met.
Income received in advance of the provision of specified services it is deferred until the criteria for income recognition is met.
## **Interest Receivable**
Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured reliably by the charity: this is normally upon notification of the interest paid or payable by the bank.
## **Fund Accounting**
Unrestricted funds are available to spend on activities that further any of the purposes of the charity. Designated funds are unrestricted funds of the charity which the trustees have decided at their discretion to set aside to use for a specific purpose. Restricted funds are donations which the donor has specified are to be solely used for a particular purpose / area of the charity's work or for specific projects.
## **Expenditure and Irrecoverable VAT**
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to make a payment to a third party, it is probable that settlement will be required and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Irrecoverable VAT is charged as a cost against the activity for which the expenditure was incurred.
## **Tangible Fixed Assets**
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Assets over £100 are capitalised. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows:

## **Cash at bank and in hand**
Cash at bank and cash in hand includes cash and short term highly liquid investments with a short maturity of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account.
## **Creditors**
Creditors and provisions are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors and provisions are normally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade discounts due.
## **Trustees Remuneration**
None of the Trustees or related parties received any remuneration or benefit from the charity during the year and no expenses were reimbursed.
## **Employee Costs and Benefits**
The charity employed 2 staff during the accounting period for which remuneration amounted to a total of £8,853.
No other benefits were received by staff during the account period. No employee received benefits in excess of £60,000.
