organisation; co-operation with other organisations and bodies whether professional or voluntary; Educating the public on matters relating to community resilience; and any other related and appropriate areas, at the Trustees discretion, in order to fulfil the aim of the protection of life and property.

This charity is a developing Civil Defence (Emergency Support) organisation, looking to train in emergency skills that will enable the members to support the professional services in times of need. In doing so, it also intends to help develop ‘Community Resilience’ throughout the areas it is based within. The training also enables members to support community events through first aid support, communications and security.

Civil Defence is a particular style of Emergency Support with volunteers being trained as ‘generalists’ in various key skills that will make them instantly useful in support of professional services. These skills include, but not limited to: Search and Rescue, First Aid, Security, Communications, Logistics, Auxiliary Fire.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main As with many charities, our development had been held back achievements of the charity considerably due to the COVID19 pandemic. Applications for during the year funding were refused as we were unable to be active from the start of the pandemic due to no money, and even though we advised that we would be if we could get funding for equipment and insurance, this simply fell on deaf ears.

The lack of funding has been extremely frustrating, but development has continued, and we now have operational units active across the country.

As the pandemic continues to decrease, our ability to grow will increase enabling us to support local communities, as well as the professional services.

We are ready to push forward with the full recruitment and training of a new Voluntary Civil Defence organisation across the UK providing emergency support where needed, as did the Civil Defence Services during the Second World War and the Civil Defence Corps throughout the Cold War.

charity’s policy on reserves

Our principal sources of funding are grants and donations. The small amounts we have brought in over the past year has managed to keep us going, with many expenses being born by our members themselves.

The development of training and governance has continued throughout the pandemic, as without insurance, it was not possible for everyone to be operationally active. Hopefully, funders will now be open to applications to enable us to raise the necessary money to become fully active.
