WIVENHOE COMMUNITY CHARITY (WCC) ANNUAL REPORT 2024

WCC was established in September 2024 having taken over the remaining funds (£218.27) and aims of the now defunct community charity Wivenhoe Community Trust. WCC’s aims are to support the Wivenhoe Community by securing grants from national and county sources which are available to charities, but not to Wivenhoe Town Council (WTC), whose Funding Officer operates as a volunteer for WCC by notifying this charity of any such grants. WCC has appointed 7 trustees who together have knowledge and experience of Wivenhoe charities which support all demographics of the community. (In 2024, David Hutchings resigned as trustee and was replaced by Frances Richards).

During the inaugural financial year of WCC, effectively covering only 6 months operations from end September 2023 to March 2024. only one grant was secured (see below) and paid to the Wivenhoe Dementia and Friendly Club, However, the 2025 financial year has seen many more grant applications, and WCC is on the verge of publishing its website, which the committee hope will facilitate more the successful applications and we are optimistic of being able to help more local charities.
