A message from our founder and chair

I’m honoured to still be working towards giving thousands of children a better chance at a future free from extreme poverty.

This wouldn’t be possible without our incredible partner charity in Tanzania who help us implement projects to such a high standard. Their future is incredibly bright too and I’m so excited to see what they will achieve.

Why we’re different

100% Donation Promise

We are a team of passionate volunteers which means we have almost no running costs. This allows us to donate 100% of your funds to the projects in Tanzania.

Purpose

We have an awareness and social conscience that millions of people live in extreme poverty through no fault of their own and we desire to take action as global citizens.

We do this through collaborating with local Tanzanian NGOs to address the specific educational needs of children in their community.

Why we support children’s education in rural Tanzania

Poorest country in the world (UN). Tanzania’s government lacks funds to build enough classrooms, toilets, or desks. Overcrowded schools strain teachers, leading to poor education quality.

Of the population live in poverty (World Bank), with an average life expectancy of just 63. Education is key to breaking this cycle.

More men and women completed secondary school in 2016 (World Bank). But limited resources remain a major issue — in some schools, five students share one textbook. Tanzania’s 2003 Free Education For All policy has led to severe overcrowding; we've seen class sizes of up to 144 students.

Is the average time children spend in school. If children fail their Primary School exams, they can’t move on to Secondary. Girls are often stigmatised during menstruation, causing them to miss school.

About our partner schools

We’re committed to transform the awful conditions thousands of children are learning in each day. Our current 9 partner schools all had the same issues when we first partnered with them in 2020.

Unhygienic toilets

Many girls are forced to stay home during menstruation because the school toilets are unhygienic and lack privacy.

Limited clean water

And school lunches are hard to come by, meaning many children go through the entire day hungry.

Buildings in disrepair

Walls and roofs crumbling around the children as they try to learn.

Overcrowded classrooms

Students are squashed four to a desk, with no access to textbooks.

Our Tanzanian partners on the ground

Ndoto in Action have been our main delivery partner since 2020. Their main focus is to dramatically transform poor rural government schools so they can provide a quality education.

This partnership works so well as Made With Hope utilises the fundraising opportunities we have access to here in the UK, Ndoto in Action deliver the projects closely with the community and we both collaborate in monitoring and evaluating the impact of them.

“I did not get a chance to go to the best schools or university. I came from a poor background. I was raised by single mother; she could not afford my education and she was even struggling to take care of the family.

My experience studying in public schools gave me a chance to witness how difficult it is to access quality education with limited infrastructures and most importantly to reach my dreams.

I could imagine how young girls are even more affected by poor toilets infrastructures when they’re in menstruation. This situation inspired me to start Ndoto In Action as a charity aims to transform poor children’s dreams especially young girls into reality through accessing quality education.

In partnership with the local community

In collaboration with our amazing partner, Ndoto in Action in Tanzania, we work with 9 dedicated communities and here’s how.

All projects involve their community

To make sure we bring the most impactful projects, we worked with the community members from start to finish to find the problems they are facing through focus group discussions, interviews and community meetings then prioritizing the most critical challenges and find solution together.

Communities contribute at least 10%

To create a sense of ownership, we asked community members to contribute to 10% of the project in the form of manpower. This helps them to project the project at any cost when we left because they have contributed to it and they are not ready to see it destroyed.

One of our favourite examples

300 members of Umoja community came to volunteer their time to construct the foundations of a new school kitchen. Instead of taking 4 days to dig the foundations, we were able to do it in 4 hours.

Income and expenditure

We were very pleased with the income and expenditure of 2024 here at Made with Hope.

We found our fundraising and project implementation very manageable as a team of volunteers and we made a huge impact to thousands of children.

Expenditure

We spent £184,456 this year, spending 97% (£178,262) on projects in Tanzania. Only £6,194 of this was on our fundraising and running costs such as accountancy fees, consultancy fees and website hosting. This is funded by our Trustees and a major donor so that we can ensure that 100% of your donation goes to our projects in Tanzania.

Income

We are incredibly excited that we absolutely smashed our fundraising goal this year! Our team of volunteers raised a total of £245,106 through applying to Trusts and Foundations, corporate sponsorships, challenges, online giving and major donors. With every donation we get we honestly still feel so surprised and so happy that someone has chosen to believe in the work we do. We are forever grateful even after 11 years.

Made with Hope is a charitable company limited by guarantee incorporated on the 15[th] April 2014 and registered as a charity on 25[th] February 2015. The Company was established under a Memorandum of Association which established the objects and powers of the Charitable Company and is governed under its Articles of Association

3. Financial Review

The total income for the year was £245,106 This income is allocated across respective funds on the accruals account.

The statement of assets and liabilities as at 31[st] December 2024 shows total funds carried forward of £86,332

4. Public Benefit Statement

The trustees have referred to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity's objectives and planning its future activities. This annual report will aim to demonstrate the link between our charitable activity and how this benefits our service users

6. Achievements and Performance

Working in Partnership

At Made with Hope, we are committed to delivering long-term, sustainable change through strong partnerships with local organisations in Tanzania. In 2024, we continued to work closely with Tanzanian NGOs, government officials, schools, and rural communities to identify and support schools with the greatest need.

We have actively engaged nine communities, each through their local primary school, and made several site visits with Tanzanian Government Education Officers to jointly assess needs. Our approach is collaborative at every stage—from needs assessment to implementation—ensuring community ownership and long-term sustainability.

Each project begins with a series of community workshops where we work alongside local stakeholders to co-design solutions that meet the specific needs of their children. This participatory model not only builds trust but also reinforces a shared responsibility for the long-term success of each project.

We remain committed to supporting communities for several years before transitioning out, ensuring that the impact of our work is embedded and sustainable.

Our Delivery Partner: Ndoto in Action

All our projects are implemented by our trusted local partner, Ndoto in Action , a Tanzanian-registered NGO founded in 2019. Made with Hope has supported Ndoto in Action since its inception and was their sole funder during their first three years. The organisation is run by a small team of three dedicated staff members and six volunteers, all of whom contribute their time regularly with exceptional commitment.

A key element of our model is building the internal capacity of Ndoto in Action to ensure they can independently sustain and scale their work. In 2024, we continued to provide both formal and informal training across a range of areas, including financial systems, fundraising, marketing, stewardship, and communications.

One of the most impactful developments this year was the enhancement of Ndoto in Action’s financial systems. Through our partnership with Accountants for International Development , a volunteer auditor from NATO began supporting their finance function and has since provided ongoing weekly assistance. This support enabled the recruitment of a full-time Finance Manager , strengthening their operational capacity to match growing project demands.

As a result of capacity-building efforts, Ndoto in Action raised approximately £18,000 independently in 2024 and is currently shortlisted for a $50,000 multi-year grant . This marks a significant milestone in their journey towards financial independence.

We are proud of the progress they’ve made and remain committed to helping them become a sustainable, independent organisation capable of thriving regardless of Made with Hope’s involvement.

Purpose – We are guided by our social conscience, driven by the belief that every child deserves opportunity, regardless of where they are born.

Committed to Transparency

In light of declining public trust in the charity sector—often driven by concerns around transparency (Charity Commission, 2018)—we have made openness a central pillar of our work since the charity’s inception.

From the beginning, we recognised that a lack of transparency undermines public confidence. That’s why we’ve committed to sharing not only our successes but also our mistakes and the lessons we learn.

This year, we successfully collaborated with all nine communities we've supported since 2019, with local community members actively volunteering time and labour for construction projects.

Fundraising and Operational Highlights

Made with Hope continues to operate under a 100% donations-to-projects policy . Our modest operational costs (approximately £2,500 annually) are covered entirely by Trustees and major donors.

As a volunteer-led charity, we are deeply grateful for the incredible individuals who manage our operations—from donor stewardship and communications to safeguarding, web development, and bookkeeping.

In 2024, we collaborated closely with Ndoto in Action on multiple funding applications to UK-based Trusts and Foundations. This joint effort not only strengthened their grant writing capabilities but also opened new funding avenues that Made with Hope alone could not access.

We are pleased to see this partnership yield tangible results, including increased funding and capacity growth for our partner organisation.

Governance

Made with Hope is currently seeking additional Trustees to diversify our board. However, we remain committed to thoughtful recruitment and will only appoint individuals who bring the necessary skills and time to support our mission effectively.

7. Statement of Trustees responsibilities

The Trustees (who are also the directors of Made With Hope Limited) for the purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing the Trustees' Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).

Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company at the end of the year and of the incoming resources and application of resources for the year then ended.

In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to: -

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose, with reasonable accuracy at any time, the financial position of the charity, and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. Independent Examiners Report to the Trustees

I report on the accounts of the company for the year ended 31st December 2024, which are set out on pages 9-13

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner. The trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner's report. My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

1. Basis of Accounting

The accounts have been prepared using the accruals method. An audit is not required by the Charity's constitution and has not been requested by the Trustees.

3. Guarantee

There have been no guarantees given by Made with Hope at 31[st] Dec 2024.

4. Debt

There is no debt outstanding which is owed by Made with Hope and which is secured by an excess charge on any of the assets of Made with Hope at 31st December 2024

5. Fund Accounting

Unrestricted funds are donations and other incoming resources receivable or generated for the objects of the charity without further specified purpose and are available as genera l funds.

Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the trustees for particular purposes. Restricted funds are to be used for specific purposes as laid down by the donor.

6. Risks

The trustees have examined the major risks which the charity faces in relation to external factors, governance and management, internal operations and business. The trustees have considered the likelihood and the impact of risks, and continually review the systems in place to reduce those risks. The systems are being designed to provide reasonable assurance against material loss.
