need through the covid 19 first lockdown, through the period we slill
managed to raise money for schools and clubs which helped them,
through the unprecedented time.

Achievements and performance
In this period Star provided support lo families that was in need of gettin9
to the doctors, shopping. hospital and picking up of prescriptions.
Summary of the main
achievements of the charlty
durlng the year
Over 200 families were supported through Ihe first 3 month period of the
first lockdown,
Star also distributed to 20 hospitals and care homes much needed face
protection free of charge to these front line workers.
Star supported Winshill community centre in collecting food from
supermarkets so they were able to support the ￿MMunity from their food
bank.
Slar shop was also open to social serVi￿S for those families that were in
need of help and support. through this period, and managed to reopen for
nd
a 6 months before 2 lockdown, we still managed to recycle 80 tons of
bulky waste, supported families in very much need of fumishing
increasing their quality of life.
Working closely wilh clubs, local authorities and facilitators of leisure
c6ntres within 5 counties, Star still managed to recycle nearly 200.OOOkg
of textiles, shoes. bcoks. cdldvds. bedding. saving landfill, generaling
nearly £60,000 helping raise much needed funds for them through the
unprecedented time. Funds raised by Active Ashfield was used to feed
young people through the Covid period.
The acquirement ofan old Maltings Building to be renovated into a sports
and arts academy is Star commilment to the local community lo continue
help support schools, dubs and young people to provide free martial arts.

for schools, along with a safe sanctuary for young people to enjoy and

Star currently has managed to open the Martial Arts Studio, Dance
Studio and Filness Area, Star lost 2 IA years through the covid period, so
we are now expecting a full opening by Aug 2023.

Gaining contracts with Precycle to empty more recycling centres of books
and textiles will help the recovery, from the this period, recycling of books
will provide 18.￿ of our income and the shop 25%. Gaining contracts to
recycle textiles and more books will reduce the reliant on the shop for the
income and spread Our income across a number of sources.
