## **CHAIRMAN’S REPORT** 

The Sikh Memorial Fund has had a year of decent recovery following COVID 19 lockdowns. This year we were able to host our regular annual event, which attracted a very good crowd. 

On 1[st] November, as is always the case, the fund organised an event ahead of the national Remembrance Day to remember Sikh service and sacrifice during the World Wars.  This time, engagement was undertaken with personnel attending and lunch provided in the Arboretum café which enabled a chance to network with supporters.  A Scout troop from Leicester joined our ceremony and were given a talk at the memorial about the Sikh contribution as well as had the opportunity to ask questions. 

We were also approached by a film company looking to utilise some of our memorial imagery, and this provided an opportunity to bring in some funds via a licensing fee to support our annual event. 

Our websites, which had been offline due to some coding issues, were brought back to life by volunteers who helped debug the site.  This means we now have a functioning online presence once more, where we can continue to promote our research and encourage visits to the Sikh memorial. 

Looking towards the future, we will need to see how we can increase participation with visits to the WW1 Sikh Memorial all-year round and not just at Remembrance time.  We will engage with National Memorial Arboretum about this and seek other partnerships also.
