The Trustees of ALAG (Asperger London Area Group) and its affiliate, the Autism Hub have
taken regard of the guidance issued by the Charity Commlssion on public benefit in
OP8ratlng thls charity. ALAGIAutism Hub continues to be a user led organisation providing
valuab18 So￿81 and 8motional Support to autistic adults (and thelr families) to build
confidence, r8sillence, to help improve their sense of wellb8lng and live more fulfilled Ilves.
Over the last financial year ALAGIAutism Hub has manag8d to gain a stronger foollng wlth
local authorlty fundlng. These successfvl funding applications have resulted In our s8rvlces
now operating with paid members of staff worklng alongside our volunteers. We now are
able to provlde a wider range of 8UPPOrt for our members and to offer these much-needed
services to more autislic adults who do nol hav8 a leaming disability. The board of trustees
have, wlth the18ad service coordinalors, continued to put in place policl8s and procedurès to
ensure the quality of the servi¢98 we provlde m88ts our funders expectations.
The ALAGIAut15m Hub trustees ar8 pleased that local authoritles recognlse the value of our
work, and we are grateful io everyone who has helped to make thls funding breakthrough
happen. As trustees, we are eommltted to belng responslble custodlans of public funds and
are expected to deliver our servlces In Ilne wlth the agreed purpose of the fundlng.

ALAGIAutlsm Hub has a clearfy deflned m8nagement Structure ensurfng 8ff6cllve declsions
are being made wlthln the organlsatlon. As 8 g8n8ral rule w8 alm to have trustees, meellng8
approxlmately four tlmes a year, however due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdown,
the board of trustee8 were only ablè to meet three tlmes durtng thls financlal perlod. It Was
egreed land approved by the Charlty Commlsslonl thal these meetlngs could ba held onllne
rath8r than In person to ensure the safety of our trustees.

Unfortunalely. due to the pandemic, the programme of tralnlng for the Irustees was restrlct8d
such that only the safeguarding training and some fundraising tralnlng was undertaken. A
new programmg of training for trustees Is being developed in conjunction wlth our lead
sèrvice coordlnalor and Is expected to be proposed in Aprfl 2021.

AL4GIAutism Hub operations have expanded and been able to secure the expertise of
several self-employed specialists to dellv6r grant funded services alongside the servlc8
coordinators and volunteer members.

We now have fewer volunteers working than before thè pandemic and Ihis has had an
adverse effect on th8 delivery of our In-person aulism awareness tralning as none has taken
place. Our administralive capacity has also d8creased so there h88 been a delay in some of
the communlcatlon we provlde.
Counsellors:
ALAGIAut15m Hub's counselllng servlce conslsts of six counsellor8- three of whom are fully
tralned autism specialist counsellors and three are trainee placement counsellors in their
flnal year of tralnlng.
ALAG/Autlsm Hub Fundlng and Flnance
ALAGIAut18m Hub's flnanclal poslllon has Improved 81nce 2019120 due to the Incréased
grant fundlng from local authoritles and trust funders. See table below for d8talls. Thè n8W
fundlng Is malnly to pay part-tlme staff to coordinate the online 8ervSces. Plans to develop
new fundraising strategy and ideas for lolnt fundlng blds with relevant partners under the
guSdance of Voluntary Actlon Isllngton have been d6lay8d In order to concentrate on
ensuring we dellver the ngw online servlces In a way thal our sérvice users find accesslble
and can engage and b8n8fl1 from. ALAGIAutlsm Hub holds cash rèseryes as 8 means of
8nsurfng that il is able lo respond to emgrgencies in a tlmely way.

Throughout Aprfl 2020- March 2021 ALAGIAutlsm Hub has continued to offer speciali8t
counselling, peer support. advocacy, case work around housing issués, employment
support. welfare benefits guidance and in a(Idilion 8UPPOrted ASC indlvlduals to live
h8althi8r, more fulfilled lives. We have also supported indivlduals to understand and come to
terms with their dlagnosis as part of our Partners for Health collaboration with the C&1
diagnostic service. Providing the soclal and emotlonal support essential lo their well-belng by
enabling them to be socially active and connected to their ¢ommunltles.

Durlng the height of the pandemlc, many autistlc adults hav8 reported Increased levels of
anxiety, isolatSon, bereavement, disruption to routlnes, difficulty accesslng health and mental
health s8rvlces. houslng issues, and émployment Issues. In response to the impact of the
pandemic, ALAGIAuti8m Hub adapted 811 Its servlces lo be delivered virtually or by
tel8phon8 - Includlng the In-person peer drop-ln service which Is now a weekly onllne
service.
Throughout the pandernlc year, ALAGIAutism Hub monthly support meèllngs, prevlou8ly
held In Isllngton Town Hall, were moved onllne and developed a8 a series of monthly
webinars where we Invlted specialist speak8rs as well as engaged in group dlscusslon8, We
also saw an Increase In numbers of counselllng sesslons provld8d, advocacy 8UPPOrt.
telephone and 6m8il consultatlons, peer to peer support 'drop-In' sessions and employablllty
thèmed workshops.
The ALAGIAutlgm Hub trustees are pleased wllh what has b8en achleved In the y8ar Aprfl
2020 to March 2021. The expanslon of services despite the drawback and di5advantsges of
the pandemic is a testament of the hard work, d6dlcallon and commitment of our staff team,
counsellors and volunteers who have gone the extra mile in all areas to ensure Ihls
outstanding s8rvlce contlnues to have a positive impact In the communlly as a whole. We
belleve we are well placed lo continue daliverlng our sepAces In the Corning year- 2021122.

Basis of Preparation.
These accounts have been prepared on an accrual basis and Include Income and expenditure as they are
eamed or incurred, rather than as cash received or paid. The recommendations of the Financial Reporting
Standard applicable in the UK and Republlc of Ireland {frssel and Charities Act 2011 have been foll¢)wed.
Fund Accounting.
The general funds consist of funds that the Truste&s may use for ALAGIAulism's charitable purposes at their
di8¢retion.
The restricted funds are those where the donor has imposed restrlcllons on Ihe use of the funds, whlch are
legally binding. Restricted funds held in reserve al the end of the year represent income received donors lo be
spent within the followng year. Details of these funds are set out on the separate schedule In Note 5.
Voluntary Income
All voluntary income and donations are recognised and included in the accounts as they ar& recelved.
