reportwiththefinancialstatementsofthecharityfortheyearended31March2024.Thetrustees have
adoptedtheprovisionsofAccountingandReportingbyCharities:StatementofRecommended Practice
applicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsinaccordancewiththeFinancialReporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

Constitution

KingsChurchKingstonisacompanylimitedbyguarantee-companynumber9312689,andisregisteredas a
charity-number1160459.Thecompanywasformedon14thNovember2014andwasinactiveuntil6th April
2015,whenittookovertheassets,liabilitiesandundertakingoftheKingsChurchKingstonTrust (charity
no.1046210). The accounts and report cover the period from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024.
The principal office is King's Church, Speer Road, Thames Ditton KT7 0PN.
Trusteesareappointedbyaresolutionatameetingofthetrustees.TheTrusteesthatservedduringthe year

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives

TheobjectofthecharityisthepromotionandadvancementoftheChristianreligion.Inordertomeet this
objective,thechurchseekstobeagrowinglocalchurchservingtheboroughsofKingstonandElmbridge. It
doesthisthroughSundayservices,whichareopentoall;midweeklifegroups;training; community-based
activities for children, young people and the elderly; and partnership with local social action projects.
Duringthisperiodthechurchwasledby a team offiveelders,twoofwhomPhilipEllwoodand JohnFord were
paidonafulltimebasis.TheeldersweresupportedbyaparttimeAdministratorandsome ad-hoc
communications support.
ThechurchispartofNewfrontiers,aninternationalfamilyofchurches,andwithinNewfrontiersisamember of
theNewGroundnetwork,ledbyDaveHolden.Theeldersreceivetrainingandpastoralsupportfrom Dave
Holden and the New Ground team who support churches in the South West London area.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Review of activities

Sunday Services

Ourservicesareopentoallandgroupsforchildrenandyoungpeopleage0-18areprovidedduring every
service. Services always include sung worship, prayer, Bible readings and preaching.
SinceSeptember2020,King'sChurchKingstonhasbeenmeetingastwolocalcongregationsinThames Ditton
andNewMalden.WemeetinthemorningsinThamesDittonandtheafternoonsinNewMalden. In
September 2021 we changed our New Malden venue and now meet in the URC church in New Malden.

Building purchase and renovation

InMarch2022King'sChurchwasabletobuyabuilding,theformerThamesDittonUnitedReformedChurch in
SpeerRoad,ThamesDitton.Thefundsusedforthispurchasehadbeensecuredoveranumberof years
throughgivingofcurrentandformerchurchmembersintoarestrictedbuildingfund.Thechurchalso secured
a mortgage with Kingdom Bank to enable the purchase and renovation of the building.

Alpha Courses

TheAlpha Courseisaninternationalinitiativeprovidingasafe,informalenvironmentwherethosenewto faith
orsimplyexploringtheclaimsofChristianitycanmeettolearnaboutChristianbeliefs,askquestions and
discussideasovera meal.King'sChurchholdscourseseachyear,whichhavebeenheldat ourThames Ditton
location.

Training

We run Marriage, Parenting and Marriage Preparation courses, which are open to all.
Fundsarealsomadeavailableonaregularbasistoenableministryleaderstoreceivetraininginany areas
they feel would be of benefit in assisting them to carry out their roles within the church.
Inthecurrentperiodweprovidedfundingtohelptrainupcomingleadersinthechurchthrougha leadership
training programme called New Ground Academy.

Children's and Youth ministry

In addition to Sunday morning activities for 0-18s, we have two regular groups which we run for families.
In2022weestablishedThamesTots,aparentandtoddlergroup,whichmeetsonFridaymornings.We also
haveamonthlyFridaynightyouthgroup,Ignite,whicheithermeetsatourThamesDittonbuildingorin the
local area for activities.
We also take young people to a Christian Festival called Newday each summer.

Social Action

InJanuary2019wesetupanolderpeople'ssocialgroup,("Elderberries")tohelpcombatsomeof the
lonelinessthatweseeamongstsomeolderpeopleinourarea.Thegroupmeetsfortnightlyona Tuesday
morning, and offers friendship, support, as well as interesting talks, quizzes and activities.
InApril2023westartedaprojectwithTransformingLivesforGoodtomentorteenagersatalocal secondary
school.
Intermsofoverseassupport,in2023-4wegifted£6500tosupportmissionandchurchplantinginthe Caucus
region. We also gave £10,000 to support the earthquake relief efforts in South East Turkiye.
In 2023-4 we also gifted £5000 to support the work of the Newday Christian Festival.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

As wellas servingthecommunity,thechurchplacesa highpriorityonmeetingtheneedsofitsmembers.This is
primarilyaccomplishedthrough:LifeGroups-groupsof10-20individualsmeetingmidweekinhomes for
prayer,fellowshipandBiblestudy;eventstargetedspecificallyatmen,atwomen;ongoingtraining and
coachingforleaderswithinthechurch;andaprayerteamavailableafterSundayservicesand contactable
any time via e-mail or text.
Theeldersarealsoavailabletomeetwithmembersofthechurchtoprayforthemandsupportthem as
appropriate.
AspartoftheNewGroundandthewiderNewfrontiersnetwork,wealsoseektobuildastrong community
within the church through regular weekends away and attendance at conferences.

Other Activities

In2013,ateamwassentoutfromKing'sChurchKingstoninordertoplantanewchurchinIstanbul,Turkey. In
2019theleadersoftheIstanbulChurchreturnedtoKingstonandtoKing'sChurch.TheIstanbulchurchis still
meetingundernewleadership.King'sChurchiscommittedtosupportingthisventurebothfinancially and
through prayer and pastoral visits. In the current year our financial support of this ministry totalled £7,500.
Thechurchhasaconnectedcharity,TheKing'sChurchKingstonPropertyTrust.A giftof£213wasmadeto this
connected charity in the year.

Public benefit

TheTrusteeshaveconsideredtheguidanceprovidedbytheCharityCommissionregardingpublicbenefit and
the work of the charity for this year and for the future.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Financial statements

Thechurch'stotalincomefortheyearwas£317,879,ofwhich£53,526wasforrestrictedpurposes.Ofthe total
£47,190wasincometaxrecoverableonofferingsreceivedundergiftaid.Thetotalexpenditureforthe year
was £308,713, creating a surplus of £9,166.

Policies

Grantmakingisatthediscretionofthetrusteesandeldersandisapprovedbythetrusteesattheir regular
meetings. The church aims to give away at least 10% of its general fund income.

Reserves

As at31stMarch2024generalunrestrictedreservestotalled£1,184,787.A significantamountofthese reserves
aretiedupinthecostofthechurchbuilding.Thecharity'sunrestrictednetcurrentassetsat theyearend date
were £162,665.
Thetrusteesreviewthereservespolicyannually.Thegeneralunrestrictedreservesareheldtocover financial
commitmentsandthetrusteesaimtoholdatleastthreemonthsunrestrictedexpenditureof approximately
£71,000 in reserve.
ThereporthasbeenpreparedinaccordancewiththespecialprovisionsofPart15oftheCompaniesAct 2006
relating to small companies.

Thecharityiscontrolledby itsgoverningdocument,a deedoftrust,and constitutesa limitedcompany, limited
by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.

Responsibilities and basis of report

Asthetrusteesofcharitablecompanyyouareresponsibleforthepreparationofthefinancialstatements in
accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act').
Havingsatisfiedmyselfthatthefinancialstatementsofthecharitablecompanyarenotrequiredto be
auditedunderPart16oftheActandareeligibleforindependentexamination,Ireportinrespectof my
examinationofthecharitablecompany'sfinancialstatementscarriedoutundersection145ofthe Charities
Act2011('the2011Act')andincarryingoutmyexaminationIhavefollowedalltheapplicable Directions
given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.
An independentexaminationdoesnotinvolvegatheringalltheevidencethatwouldberequiredinan audit
andconsequentlydoesnotcoverallthemattersthatanauditorconsidersingivingtheiropinionon the
financialstatements.Theplanningandconductofanauditgoesbeyondthelimitedassurancethat an
independentexaminationcanprovide.Consequently,Iexpressnoopinionastowhetherthe financial
statementspresenta'trueandfair'viewandmyreportislimitedtothosespecificmatterssetoutin the
independent examiner's statement.

Sincethecharitablecompany'sgrossincomeexceeded£250,000yourexaminermustbeamemberof a
bodylistedinsection145ofthe2011Act. IconfirmthatIam qualifiedtoundertaketheexamination because
I am a member of ACA, which is one of the listed bodies. I have completed my examination.
Iconfirmthatnomaterialmattershavecometomyattentioninconnectionwiththeexaminationgiving me
cause to believe that in any material respect:
oaccountingrecordswerenotkeptinrespectofthecharitablecompanyasrequiredbysection386of the
2006 Act; or
to the financial statements do not accord with those records; or
tothefinancialstatementsdonotcomplywiththeaccountingrequirementsofsection396ofthe2006 Act
otherthananyrequirementthatthefinancialstatementsgivea'trueandfairviewwhichisnota matter
considered as part of an independent examination; or
tothefinancialstatementshavenotbeenpreparedinaccordancewiththemethodsandprinciplesof the
StatementofRecommendedPracticeforaccountingandreportingbycharitiesapplicableto charities

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements

Thefinancialstatementsofthecharitablecompany,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS 102,
havebeenpreparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReporting by
Charities:StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccounts in
accordancewiththeFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland (FRS
102)(effective1January2019)',FinancialReportingStandard102'TheFinancialReporting Standard
applicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland'andtheCompaniesAct2006.Thefinancial statements
have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Income

All incomeisrecognisedintheStatementofFinancialActivitiesoncethecharityhasentitlementto the
funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

Expenditure

Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructive obligation
committingthecharitytothatexpenditure,itisprobablethatatransferofeconomicbenefitswill be
requiredinsettlementandtheamountoftheobligationcanbemeasuredreliably.Expenditure is
accountedforonanaccrualsbasisandhasbeenclassifiedunderheadingsthataggregateall cost
