STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBIUTIES The trustees of Rays of Hope are responsible for preparlng the report and accounts in accordance with applicable law and re8ulations. Charities Acts requlre the trustees to prepare financial statement that glves a true and fair view of the or8anization's financial activities during the year and its financial position at the end of each financial year. Under Charities Acts, the trustees must not approve the accounts unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company for that period. These financial statements of Rays of Hope have been prepared in accordance with our terms of engagement and in order to assist you to fulfil your duties under the Charities Acts that relate to preparing the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31[st] December 2023.

We have prepared these financial statements based on the accounting records, information and explanations provided by you. We do not express any opinion on the financial statements.

On the balance sheet you have acknowledged your duties under the prevailing Companies Acts to ensure that the company keeps adequate accounting records and prepares financial statements that give “a true and fair view”.

You have determined that the charity is exempt from the statutory requirement for an audit for this accounting period. Therefore, the financial statements are unaudited.

The financial statements are provided exclusively to the trustees for the limited purpose mentioned above, and may not be used or relied upon for any other purpose or by any other person, and we shall not be liable for any other usage or reliance.

1. Tackling illiteracy among the refugees: Literacy and Educational
Classes at Iqra College, focussed on reading and writing skills to
improve self-esteem, support their mental well-being and improve
their employability skills, were provided to many Syrian refugee
children in Turkey.61.62%% of this expenditure this year was
focussed on wellbeing, tackling illiteracy and education, where 2021
pupils benefited directly (875 boys and 1146 girls). This is the largest
portion of our work, and this 61% of the annual expenses were split
on the following expenses as follows:

We delivered in our projects as follows on the following five key priorities
in the above-mentioned period:
In this financial year,1/1/2023to31/12/2023the trustees raised a total of
£355023.91from donors in the UK only and the charity spent this year
£401204,60on various projects.We had an extra £78803 from 2022.
A balance of £32622.78 was carried over for the next (new) financial
year starting from 1/1/2024.
  1. Orphans and Widows (vulnerable women’s) Support : Providing shelter for 175 orphaned children and their mothers who are vulnerable Syrian refugee widows (women) in Turkey. 4.38% of our expenditure was used to support widows and orphans (58 boys and 117 girls). All in Turkey.

  2. Ramadan Rice: On the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, we used 6% of the above spending (as Sadaqa-ul-Fiter) to distribute rice to 5199 beneficiaries (2398 males and 2801 females)

  3. Qurbani Meat: On the occasions of Eid-ul-Adha, we spent 1.44% of the above expense to purchase and slaughter Qurbani animals in Sanliurfa, Turkey in Eid ul Adha season. The total number of people benefited was 983 people (481 males and 502 females in Turkey). Many of them orphans or single mothers who are able to eat meat only on this occasion of Eid.

  4. Supporting the victims of the earthquake in Turkey : Soon after the earthquake struck in Turkey, we launched an appeal to support the victims of the earthquake in the southern cities in Turkey where thousands of the building were flattened to the ground and people buries under the rubble. £101,036 were raised and spent on emergency aid where we served 3965 people as follows:

  5. we spent 11.76% of the above expense to purchase tents for the earthquake victims and 550 sheltered in tents, and

  6. we spent 6.11% of the above expense to house 40 people housed in containers (mobile ready-made home made from cabins where people live in as a home) as well as

  7. we spent 2.44% of the above expense to provide hot meals. A total of 3375 people were provided with emergency hot meals.

The total orphans who get support in the period from Rays of Hope is 14364 Syrian refugees, orphans and widows in Turkey.

Our work is only with Syrian refugees and all (100%) live in Turkey
