Fundamental principles
Our Aim
To create access to quality education for children living in in countries affected by poverty, disasters and conflict.
Objectives
The objective of The World Wide Education Project is to advance education for public benefit through:

Providing and assisting in the provision of infrastructure and supplies for educational establishments in developing and disaster affected countries,

Advancing the quality of education through the provision of expert-led professional development programmes and interventions for teachers and school leaders.

Providing and assisting in the provision of therapeutic care for pupils and educational staff in developing and disaster affected countries.
We carry out our work through activities in four specified service lines:

Psychosocial support

Educational supplies
The projects we have delivered in the reporting period demonstrate the flexibility of our service offer.
Dignity
We believe that every person we interact with has an innate right to be valued and to receive ethical treatment that promotes values such as trust, good behaviour, fairness, and kindness.
Respect and value of each and every individual
We believe that every person has the right to live, develop to the best of their personal potential, have the same rights and not face exclusion, be respected, and be entitled to opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills. Equally, every person is entitled to protection from violence, exploitation and other forms of abuse.
Listen to, and be prepared to learn from, children
We believe that every child has the right to express their views, and to have those views listened to and taken seriously. Any activity that is undertaken is done so with the best interests of the child or children in mind.
The value of education
We believe that quality education results in positive change in raising income, improving health, promoting gender equality, mitigating climate change, and reducing poverty, as education provides the foundation to creating an equitable society.
Do no harm
We are aware of the wider impact our work may have and take steps to minimise any negative outcomes to our beneficiaries and the wider communities within which we operate. We aim to provide locally effective assistance in ways that are supportive of recovery and long-term sustainable development.

World Wide Education Projects 2024/25
Since the global COVID-19 pandemic, the charity has focused its activities on classroom construction in Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, a project we have continued over many years with trusted partners, the Lutheran World Federation and UNHCR.
The classroom that funded in 2023 and was completed and opened in 2024 at the New Light Primary School for year 5 pupils. The age range is between 10-17yrs. Due to many factors and challenges, including language barriers and missing school attendance, keeps the older children in these lower year groups. With the large range of ages brings the challenge of overcrowding in classrooms. The average teacher to pupil ratio is 1:117, so building further classrooms is a priority, and one we hope to continue into 2025/26.
With that in mind, the charity has been saving funds to potentially build an additional classroom in Kakuma refugee camp in the coming years.

Financial review
Income
The World Wide Education Project divides its financial resources into ‘unrestricted’ and ‘restricted’ funds. Restricted funds are those ring-fenced for use on particular projects and are identified by the trustees and operational director when assessing the financial requirements of a project. Funds may be restricted for up to 2 years. The purpose of this is to ensure that the charity has sufficient resources to fulfil its commitments regardless of additional income over the period of restriction.
Donors may likewise elect to restrict their donation(s) to be used for a particular project or projects, or they can choose to make a general donation. Restricted donations are identified in the accounts and only used for the purpose intended.
The total income for the period was £212.
Expenditure
Funds were expended in this financial year except for preparing the accounts.
The expenditure was £425.
Reserves policy
It is the policy of the World Wide Education Project that all funds received are used in furtherance of the charity’s objectives. It is the intention of the World Wide Education Project to build up reserves of funds to cover a minimum of 6 months operating costs. The World Wide Education Project ensures that all opportunities to provide assistance in line with its aims are carefully assessed and evaluated in relation to the funds at its disposal.
Reserves for the period rolled into the following year total £6,209.
Risk management
The trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the World Wide Education Project is exposed and to ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against operational, organisational, and strategic risks. The Trustees have reviewed the risks to which the World Wide Education Project is exposed, including child safeguarding, financial risks (including reserves, fraud, bribery and corruption), hazardous operational environments, and staff capacity. The Trustees recognise that the charity operates on limited financial resources, and therefore the financial position and financial commitments of the World Wide Education Project are kept under constant review.

Governance
Structure, The World Wide Education Project is constituted as a governance and Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and uses a management CIO – Foundation model constitution as its governing document. The Board is constituted of (currently) one trustee, named below.
