To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their condition of life.

## **Who We Are**

We are a community organisation supporting families through social, educational, and cultural activities. Our focus is on promoting social inclusion for people who are socially excluded, especially those of Egyptian heritage — including asylum seekers and refugees.

## **What We Do**

We help people settle and thrive in the UK by:

- Offering English language and communication classes.

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**

- Creating opportunities for community participation and integration.

- Providing support and facilities for those facing age, disability, or financial challenges.

## **Supporting Children & Young People**

Children are at the heart of our work. We run social and educational activities to help them achieve their potential. During lockdown, we moved our tutoring in Science, Maths, and English for Years 5–10 online, ensuring children could keep up with school and improve their English skills. These classes have been a lifeline for many families, with 18–25 families participating weekly.

## **Building Community Connections**

Since March 2020, our weekly online cookery classes have brought people together to share recipes — including traditional Egyptian dishes — taught by volunteer chefs from our community. The sessions are open to all abilities and genders, and we also deliver meals to older, isolated members.

We have since expanded our activities to include:

- Sewing workshops.

March **2012**
