Annual Report of the Trustees (for the year ending 30 September 2025} The trustees present their annual report and audited financial statements for the year ended 30th September 2025 and confirm they comply with the Charities Act 2011, the constitution and the Charities SORP FRSIO2. It 15 governed by a constitution that was adopted on 1st June 2015 and has an a5$0ciation of 21M) members. Trustees are responsible for the general control and management of the charity. The trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits. The trustees have appointed a sub-committee to aid them in the hockey participation of the club. The Sub-committee are responsible for organising training, the collection of membership fees & match fees and ensuring that the club is affiliated to the appropriate bodie5.
Trustees are appointed or reappointed annually at the Annual General Meeting. Trustees are given a copy of the constitution on appointment. This ensures that new/existin8 trustees are aware of their re5pon5ibilitie5 under the Charities Act. Penzance Hockey Club CIO has the following policie5 in place= Saved Policy, Ethics & Equality, Disciplinary Procedures, DBS, Health & Safety Policy, FA procedures. They are affiliated to England Hockey, West Hockey Association & Cornwall Hockey Association. They are an England Hockey Clubs First Accredited Club and have been since March 2007 this is reviewed every 3 years. Penzance Hockey Club is also partnered with the Primary Leagues with a local secondary school, the local college and SLtrrounding primary schools involved. OBJEcfivES AND ACTIVllES The objects of the charity are set out in the CIOS constitution and are summarised as follows.. A provision of a programme of artivities aimed at attracting new and retaining the interest of regular established participants in hockey with the overall objectNe of growing participation in 5POrt, sustaining participation through increased satisfaction and reducing drop off rates for 14-25 year olds and providing pathways for participants to ex1 in hockey regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or faith. Management of sporting facility and promotion to other sporting groups, local businesses and community groups to participate in healthy recreation for the benefit of the community of Penzance and surrounding areas and the promotion and access to the CIO'S clubhouse facilities to local community, local businesses and other groups for social functions and meeting space. ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE How our actlvltles deliver publle benefft Throughout the yearthe club house is available for use by the local community. The local pigeon club continues to use the facilities for meetings and discussions. The clubhouse is also available for hire for social events. There are four local football teams who hire the pitch throughout the year to train as they have no training facilities available to them. This enables the players to continue with their fitness and skills and train Safely unéer floodlights in the winter months whilst having use of the changing room and shower facilities, The availability of pitch hire also enables the local primary schoo15 to participate in hockey- based activities ond games. This helped to give the children an insight into playing hockey on Astro turf and became a basis for the primary & secondary league. Summer league was organised again this year which was open to junior & senior members old & new, parents and anyone who was keen to play. This was a window for potential recruitment of players from the community and enhanced confidence, fitness and health.
VOLUNTEERS Volunteer5 are an important resource. Coaches who run the Summer league and oversee teams do so voluntarily and are affiliated to the club. Our coaches provide training sessions and we also have qualified umpires who officiate league game5 again on a voluntary basis. Co8che5 and club members running the groups have undertaken DBS checks. Achievements & Performance The men continue to run three team's in the league. The women also now run three competitNe sides in the league. A large percentage of the junior tournaments and leagues are held at the club on a Sunday. All junior teams have represented the club really well giving a great account of themselves around the county and beyond. Some of our members go on to play representative hockey rdnging from masterfs down to the West Panthers. Financlal Review The main source of income has been from the ntaI of the CIOS facilitie5 Wlth additional income from pitch hire to the local football team5 and primary hockey. The trustees and members have taken the bold decision to tske back ownership of the club from I" July 2025. From this time till the 30h September we have run on a volunteer basis with the mind to appoint a manager on a self employed basis. In between these two time's we have taken the club back and revamped. The club charges membership fees to its members. This helps to pay for affiliation to England Hockey, Cornwall Hockey, Verde Recreo Hockey League, West Women's Hockey League. competition fees, coaching and umpiring courses. County Schools & Youth, DBS checks and equipment purchased. Membership also pays for players insurance and public liability insurance and training. Our membership now incorporates the trdining and match fee cost. Members can pay thls as a one off payment or spread the cost across the year. Income has also been generated from the sale of cakes etc by the junior5. This season also saw a big push in fundraising - each team was tasked with the aim to raise one thousand pound5 Payments have included essential maintenance & publi¢ liability insurance for health & safety, accountancy and legal fees, insurance for players for the forthcoming season to ensure their wellbein& affiliation fees, competition fees, equipment purchases as well as general utilities. Towards the end of thisfinancial year we saw a bigoutlay refitting and redecorating the clubhouse.
Reserves Pollcv The trustees have considered the requirements for reserves, this review covered the nature of income and expenditure streams and the need to match variable income with fixed commitments and the nature of reserves. The trustees are aware of the need to continually monitor reseNes but are satisfied that currentty the CIO has adequate resources to fulfil its requirements for the foreseeable future. Future Plans Penzance Hockey Club CIO thrives to continue Increased partlcipation, to enhance and promote the use of the facility and seek sponsorship. Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for +his year under section 1441211 of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Actl and that an independent examination is needed.
