## **OXENHOPE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION CHAIRMAN AND TRUSTEE REPORT**
## **2022**
2022 has been a year in which the Community Centre has made steady progress recovering from the effects of the Covid epidemic and lockdowns. Operations have returned to normal but with fewer bookings due to changes in the activities of some groups such as Yorkshire Country Women along with Yoga who have relocated to the Methodist church. Preschool continues to be the main user of the building. Most notable is the reduction in children’s parties which may be due to an increase in competition in the area from Upwood Caravan Park who can offer a resource with equipment and a bar for adults.
The arrival of a new Treasurer, Linda Baines, has helped stabilised finances after two years of reduced income. Linda has been able to make savings and pursue outstanding accounts which has meant the Community Centre has made only a slight loss. Some of the outstanding maintenance work has been undertaken including rewiring the electrical circuits in the loft area that were damaged by the squirrels that had invade the roof space in 2021. There is still maintenance work to be carried out on the building and it is hoped that 2023 will be the time to catch up with this work.
The Community Centre remains an important asset for Oxenhope and the Trustees and management committee are fully committed to ensuring that it remains a viable resource offering a facility that can be used by all. It should be noted that the number of people regularly involved in running the community centre has declined and therefore the Community Association would welcome members who could become involved in running the centre.
