Activities for the year ending March 2023
Activities run by The Community House
We have been participating in the Holiday Activities and Food program (HAF) giving children opportunities to go to new places and have a safe and fun place to enjoy crafts, sports, cooking ect. These are run during school holidays and are on a booking system.
We have 3 youth groups run by trustees of SRCA.
4-8 years and 9-11years groups enjoy cooking and craft activities aswell as socialising with friends. These groups have around 15-25 children each.
12-18years group enjoy cooking, resin, candle making and much more aswell as socialising. This group has around 15-20 children.
These groups happen once a week for 2 hours each.
Due to covid we unfortunately had to close all three groups for a short period but our volunteers have managed to get a good intake when it was reopened.
Contracts and events
We have a few regular contracts. Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions (TLS) has used our halls for many years and we are thankful that they are still using us. They have
regular staff training, workshops and activities for their clients.
Potters House church and community outreach still use the hall twice a week.
JTD dance school used the building three times a week encouraging well being for many of our local children.
The Drumenagh school of irish dancing still continue to use the hall once a week encouraging well being for our local children.
The Duke of Edinburgh also used our hall occasionally before lock down bringing more children activities in the local area.
We gained Insight for men a church group who use the hall once a week.
Staffing and trustees
We are very luck to have kept all of our trustees this year and are hoping to gain more trustees this coming year.
Policies and procedures
All of our policies and procedures are under constant review to keep them up to date with the government guidelines.
Risk areas and risk management.
The Community house is run entirely by volunteers so it is essential that we provide appropriate training and support where we can. We are member of the RCCE community building advice service. Processes are in place to ensure compliance with legal and governance requirements. The board still intends to seek further trustees and is looking to engage more local people.
