## **Activities for the year ending March 2021**

## Covid 19

Due to Covid we had to close following the lock downs. We lost lots of bookings due to lock down and had to close all activities booked.

During lock down, trustees opened the building as a free food parcel centre which was funded by SRCA.

As soon as we were able to reopen all our groups returned.

When the second lockdown happenedwe had to close again but we again did the free food parcels. These were not just given to the local residents but to anyone who needed one in the surrounding areas.

## Contracts and events

We have a few regular contracts. Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions (TLS) has used our halls for many years and we are thankful that they are still using us (before and after Covid). They have regular staff training, workshops and activities for their clients.

Potters House church and community outreach still use the hall twice a week.

JTD dance school used the building three times a week encouraging wellbeing for many of our local children. After lock down JTD returned using the garden to begin with then back into our downstairs hall.

Thameside children's centre used the hall on a regular basis to run baby, toddler and parent groups for local residents and parents sent from the centre itself. Due to lock down these meetings stopped. We hope to have them back in the future.

We had The Drumenagh school of irish dancing join using the hall once a week encouraging wellbeing for our local children. Due to covid the lessons stopped but we are glad to have them back with us now the lock down has ended.

The Duke of Edinburgh also used our hall occasionally before lock down bringing more children activities in the local area.

We have 3 youth groups run by trustees of SRCA.

4-8 years and 9-11years groups enjoy cooking and craft activities aswell as socialising with friends. These groups have around 15-25 children each.

12-18years group enjoy cooking, resin, candle making and much more aswell as socialising. This group has around 15-20 children.

These groups happen once a week for 2 hours each.

Due to covid we unfortunately had to close all three groups for a long time.

## Fundings

We were fortunate enough to receive funding from Essex police to do activities and purchase items to help improve our youths' wellbeing who are less fortunate.

We purchased 8 laptops which we loaned out to members of the youth group to help them with home schooling during lock down. We also purchased ks1 - ks3 school books which were loaned out to help the children who needed extra support or who didn't have the funds to source the books. A range of Residential stays were booked for the children but due to covid these have had to be postponed till next year.

We also received grants from the local government which paid for the bills while we were in lock down as we were unfortunately unable to hire out the halls to anyone.

## Staffing and trustees

Unfortunately we lost Mr Andrew Blakey this year. This was due to personal issues and we wish Andrew all the best and give thanks for his support.

We gained a trustee Mr Jamie Malster in september 2020 and we welcome him to the SCRA family.

## Policies and procedures

All of our policies and procedures are under constant review to keep them up to date with the government guidelines.

We also had all the new risk assesments for during covid

## Risk areas and risk management.

The Community house is run entirely by volunteers so it is essential that we provide appropriate training and support where we can. We are member of the RCCE community building advice service. Processes are in place to ensure compliance with legal and governance requirements. The board still intends to seek further trustees and is looking to engage more local people.
