TRUSTEES REPORT 2026

We are now in our 18[th] year as a Society which, is some achievement. Membership numbers remain healthy and to date we have a total of 127 members. A number of members have still to pay their membership for the current year and reminders have been sent.

At the 2024 AGM it was agreed, via a vote, to increase membership fees and this came into force from 1[st] January 2025. Joint membership is now £18.00, sole membership £13.00 and students remain at £7.00pa. The benefits from being a member are significant and include, buying publications at cost price, monthly meetings and talks, the Annual Report, annual excavation, fieldwork opportunities and a bi-monthly Newsletter.

Current Chairman, Anthony Pasmore was elected at the 2024 AGM for a three year term in accordance with our constitution and the other Trustees, Jeff Tucker and Stuart Bloom remain in office as do our Committee Members. We are always looking for ‘new blood’ on the committee and to participate in fieldwork activities and if you would like to get involved please email Jeff Tucker before the AGM on 9th April 2026.

Monthly meetings at Lyndhurst Community Centre are well attended and the

programme is varied to try to appeal to all tastes. The current programme is due to end at the AGM on 9[th] April 2026 and The Programme Secretary, Jeff Tucker, is working on the programme of talks from September onwards.

Our Annual Report is in the process of preparation and all paid members will receive a copy. Towards the end of August we will once again recommence our annual excavation near Brockenhurst led by Professor Tony King. Details and joining instructions will be sent out later this year.

Publications are an important part of our Group’s activities and our website which was revamped in 2025 is a good source of sales as is the New Forest Heritage Centre. Earlier this year ‘Ashley Walk: Its Bombing Range, Landscape, and History’ was reprinted and sales are going very well.

Our finances and bank balance remain healthy and members will already have received a copy of the Accounts for the year ended 31[st] December 2025.

The Trustees 3[rd] April 2026

Anthony Pasmore Chairman, Jeff Tucker Hon.Secretary and Stuart Bloom Hon.Treasurer.
