TRUSTEES REPORT 2022
Last year proved to be another difficult year with us all being affected by the ongoing Covid situation. Our monthly meetings were largely held via Zoom and any group visits had to be cancelled. Even our fieldwork team had to adapt to government regulation ie social distancing and using separate cars etc.
It is hoped that this year will be more favourable and Jeff Tucker is working on the programme of speakers and also summer activities.
Our membership numbers remain healthy and we a total of 96 sole and joint members. The cost of membership has remained unaltered since the Group started ie Single £10, joint or family £15 and students £7. This is remarkable value and members can take advantage not only of the monthly meetings but the Annual Report, bimonthly Newsletter as well as the annual excavation and summer activities.
Indeed the annual excavation remains the highlight activity of the year and members should note that no experience is required as training is given in a friendly environment.
Our bank balance remains very healthy as you will see from the latest Accounts for the year ended 31[st] December 2021 and whilst not expanding we remain in good condition. The Trustees feel that the Group is a manageable size which helps us to be a friendly bunch but to also achieve our aims of helping to research the archaeology and history of the Forest as well as to protect it in very changeable times.
There are some changes in the officials of the Group as Sylvia Crocker is due to step down as Treasurer at the AGM on 7[th] April 2022. A new Treasurer has been found
to take over but the Trustees would like to thank Sylvia for all her efforts over the last few years.
