Chairs report
This year, I am pleased to say we have finally gone back to full operation and all our classes and events have been able to reopen at normal capacity. We celebrated the milestone of turning 100 years old by holding a free event for the local community, with live music and games to commemorate the centre’s birthday. We continued to offer our free food bank service alongside a hot meal service, as well as partnering with other stores to offer a food waste distribution service. Our Wednesday lunch club has continued to survive, despite no longer offering a delivery service as our volunteers have returned to full-time work. Private bookings have begun to pick up, and our annual events for Halloween, Christmas and Easter were sold out events. Going further into 2023, we look forward to our family funday in September, which we hope to be as successful as previous years, and it continues to sign post those in the local community to the fantastic services we offer.
Presentation of financial accounts
In the start of July 2022, we had an opening balance of £7,365.12. We had an overall income of £12,047.90 from all the activities held at the centre, including a Community Chest Grant, and charitable donations.
This year was the start of the centre returning to the normal service provision we all know and love. It has been a difficult few years previous to this and we are continuing to support our local community who continue to feel the effects of COVID despite the restrictions being lifted, deprivation in the area still remains high and many still suffer from mental health issues and anxiety within social engagement events. We look to remain inclusive to all and adaptive to the changing needs of our community.
