MAODS November 7, 2023

A note from the Chair

Dear Members and Supporters of MAODS,

Firstly, on behalf of the committee I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you, our audience, for your unwavering support and dedication to our musical productions. Times are not easy and your continued support of our productions is appreciated more than you know.

Earlier this year we took on the challenge of bringing a North of England premier to Mossley with ‘Bridges of Madison Country’. An unknown musical is always a big risk to a society; you are unsure of audience reactions, ticket sales prove more challenging and you wonder if your company, that have worked so hard, will have anyone to perform to! I am thrilled that the risk proved successful; the feedback from our audiences was somewhat overwhelming! Our audiences grew as the show week went on thanks largely to such lovely reviews from you. MAODS has always pushed the boundaries over the years in bringing new and different productions for the local community to experience and we as a committee will continue to strive to do our best to achieve this in future.

On that note I am excited to announce MAODS continues to aim for the stars in delivering high quality theatre productions at an affordable price to you, our audience. The 2024 season sees us take on two more challenging productions with Ghost - The Musical in April and Sister Act in November. We hope to see you there!

I am also delighted to announce that 2023 has seen the continued growth of our Next Generation Youth Theatre. Our young talents are blossoming under the NXG

team’s mentorship and guidance, and their progress is nothing short of remarkable. To note a couple of 2023 NXG highlights; Seussical the musical was performed to a sell out audience at our Mill theatre and NXG produced a section from Disney’s Tarzan which was performed at the Lowry Showcase in the Lyric theatre to rave reviews. This featured both our younger NXG members and our adult choir. I may be biased, but it was stunning!

Finally, I would also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all our volunteers. You are the heart and soul of our MAODS family; we cannot exist without you. Your enthusiasm, commitment, and passion have been the driving force behind the triumph of MAODS over the years. The countless hours of hard work, creativity, and teamwork have truly paid off, and the standing ovations and glowing reviews we are proud to receive for our productions are a testament to your dedication.

As we move forward, let us remember that our community's support is the cornerstone of our success. It is your unwavering dedication that fuels the magic of live theater and inspires the next generation of performers.

Thank you for being an integral part of MAODS, and here's to many more successful productions in the future!

I hope you enjoy our production of School Of Rock!

With warm regards,

Laura Meredith Hoyle
