Structure. 8overnance and management Re<rultment and appolntment of Managing Trustees Management Trustees are appointed by existing member5 of the Management Team in accordance with the Church Constitution. Their appointment is approved by Church Members at a properly convened members meeting. Trustee Inductlon and tralnin8 Trustee induction takes place on appointment. The Trustee5 keep up to date with matters of Charity Law, the duties of trustees and community organisations. Or8anlsatlonal strurture The Trustees look after the day to day management of the charity and the work of Oasis Community Church IRetfordl which currently meets at the WestHill Communlty Centre in Ordsall for Its maln meetings. The Church meets in other various locations for different events and activities as they currently do not have their own prem15es. Oasls Communlty Church (Retfordl operates wrÉh the followin8 Structure: Pastor, Trustees, Minlstry Team and Treasurer. The Pastor is the Chairman of the Trustees, who are responsible for overseeing financlal, legal matters, chlld protectlon. protection of vulnerable adults, Insurance and other leadership matters. The Minlstry Team work together with the Trustees to oversee the various ministrie5 and activities of the Church Fellowship and the pastoral and social care needs of individual members. Staff Pastor Steve Williams is self employed on a part time basi5 35 Pastor and oversees the work of both Oasi5 Churches and also manages the Oasis Community Centre. Steve has been working conslstently wlth the Management team to try and fflaintain the church and charity and look towards future plans. Volunteers We are blessed with great members and workers who are all volunteers and 23 work hard for the benefit of the charity. its members and the community. Our volunteers serve well not only the church family and Oasis community but the wider community wherever there are people with needs. Oblectlves and actlvftles The objective of the charity is the advancement of the Christian Faith by the proclamation and furtherance of the Gospel. Many of the activitie5 are evangelical, but some activities are educational, social and practical in focus. benefitting the local community of Ordsall and Retford and the surrounding villages in the wider community. Oasis Community Church (Retford) Trustees, Report For the year ended 30 April 2024 Challenging times The year was a challenging one for many in the commuity of Bassetlaw because if the increased C05t of Living crisis hitting people hard. The Cost of living crisis has meant many people have needed help and 5UPPOrt in so many ways. We lost a number of our older members who passed away during tliis year which also proves difflcult. The Charity continued during tliese difficult times and have found ways to support individuals and families through increasingly difficult times. Achlevemenls and performan¢e We have achieved decent numbers of people in our church services and we have continued to try to make advances and progress with all aspects of our vision. OPERATION OA51S We have continued workin8 Wlth our sister charity OASIS In Worksop on OPERATION OASIS (Food Box project) and OASIS BEFRIEND (One to one Befriending project) and have delivered these projects to people acr055 the Retford and Bassetlaw area. We have raised slgnificant funding between the two charitie5 and have given out over ?.S,000 food and essentials parcels in the area between us. What started as a small project at the beginnin8 of Covid Is siill contlnuinE to grow and is more needed than it was during the covid period. We have a team of volunteers who create parcels. 8ifts and fond boxes and deliver the parrels to people in the Bassetlaw area. Chlldren and Youth Work Our Children's and youth work on Mond3ys at We5thill hav been reaching many new children and young people. Joshua Williams has been running this project with small team& We see many children and familie5 attendin8 and also do speclal events, communlty events and our Holiday playscheme projett. OASIS Café Project Our Wednesday afternoon Recovery Café project is bringing many people together (mainly older people) and helps to support them in their lives, reduces isolation and loneliness and is a wellbelng cheik on many. It is workin8 well and many people from the Community Bungalows behlnd Westhill attend weekly. Annette and Marina do a good job in running this with a team of volunteers. We also took a very successful trlp to Skegne•S with over 45 people from ttrie group last Summer. Prayer Connertlon Terry has continued to keep people in touch with each other through the prayer chain phone line. He sent an encnuraging word to everyone each day and he 8ave us prayer requests from people In the church and from the wider community. He did an excellent job as always. Rlsk Management The major risks faced by the fellowship are financial, operational and external. These are niana8¢d by the Trustees as and when required. Some people's financlal situations change due to less work or age and other giver? have sadly passed away. We always have to keep an eye on the situation as things progress. Financlal The fellowships financlal positioil 15 monitored weekly by the Treasurer and regularly by the Trustees. Financial risk5 are mitigated by control of spending and rtimulation of income when necessary. Steve had blood clots in his leg twice and high blood pressure which contern¢d the church. Health and Safety. Child Protection an4 I'ulnerable Adults Policies are in place and active. Activities are risk assessed and appropriate insurance is in place. External External activitles are risk asse55ed and insured as appropriate. ReseNes Pollcy We currently do not hove extenslve reserves, but we are working to Spend the charltable income on what we are doing and keep a reserve amount in the account for unforeseen circumstances. Chlld and Vulnernble Adults Protertlon Those applylng to work wlth children or vulnerable adults are recruited safely and under80 DBS checks. These are updated every three years.
