## **Trustees Annual Report for the year ended 30th September 2020**

## **Objectives and Activities**

The Word International Church continues to work with our local Peckham Police, our local Council and our local community. We continue to give and work with local charities christian umbrella groups and support overseas missions. We continue to advance our Christian faith and training a care for the spiritual, emotional, wellbeing of our church community and safeguarding the vulnerable in our midst. This year however has caused a lot of setbacks on our charitable activities due to the COVID situation and government restrictions.

November 3rd was Pastor appreciation Sunday. It is a time when members of the church organize the service and not the clergy. The laity does the service in appreciation of the clergy. Members would come up and say kind words of how much pastoral care they had received that year from the clergy.

We had our Praise Night on 7th December 2019 . This is an evening event where we invite praise and worship ministers including our own praise and worship ministers and team to give God praise and worship for all He has enabled us to achieve that year. It was a time of rejoicing and celebration.

We continue to have our friends and family service every second Sunday of the month. This is a casual service where members of the church can interrupt the preaching, ask questions and give their own contribution to the topic in question. Topics that were discussed and taught include: Abuses & domestic violence in the home, resolving conflicts and family feuds in the home, communication, sex and money, roles and responsibilities within the home etc.

We also continue to have our leadership trainings where we train our church workers how do their work with uttermost effectiveness. The various ministry teams in the church include: The Pastoral team. (Teaching & Preaching), The Intercessory Team (Praying), The Ushering Team (Welcoming and order in Church), the Evangelistic & Follow up Team (Visiting), the Children’s Sunday School Team. The aim of the training is to give them sound foundational christian doctrines, to help them build strong christian virtues like: love, patience, endurance, courage, humility, time management etc. We also aim at developing good christian character and good leadership, management and safe-guarding skills to help them do their work in the church in a proper manner.

During November, we always gather food, clothes and shoes items, hand bags, rucksacks, school supplies and ship to our poor brethren in Sierra Leone. We were able to gather and ship quite a considerable number of items which we shipped to Sierra Leone and distributed in Freetown the capital of Sierra Leone and in Kono district the eastern province of Sierra Leone. The items were received with joy and gladness and with much appreciation. This brought joy to many at the christmas time.

## **Activities planned for 2020**

6th - 26th January - prayer and fasting 14th - 15th February - Valentine’s day and couples dinner 22nd March – Mother’s day ( The men did Mother’s Day hamper for all the women in the church) 27th April - Sierra Leone independence 2nd -3rd - Women fellowship celebration 21st June – Father’s day 22nd- 28th June - Week of Prayer and Fasting 3rd - 5th July Church 10th anniversary 29th August- Church Day Out (fun day and barbecue)

Most of our activities in 2020 were done online on social networks (Zoom, Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp) because of lockdowns and social distancing restrictions and regulations. We were engaging with our members throughout the week with both spiritual and fun programs on zoom. We had teaching times, discussion times about the pandemic, quiz times and prayers for our members and online counselling during these troublous times. The church lost a member to COVID who also had an underlining illness. It was a time of grief and sorrow to the church as he was the head of our men’s team and a very loving brother.

During the COVID time, the pastor and a few members of the church decided to do the shopping for the elderly in our midst to prevent them going out of their homes since they are more liable to catch the disease than the younger ones. Shopping was done for them and left at their doorsteps for them to pick up.
