BURTON HAZARA SOCIETY CHAIRPERSON / TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE PERIOD 01 MARCH 2024 TO 28 FEBRUARY 2025
CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT – OMID JAFARI
It is with great pride and heartfelt gratitude that I present the Chairman’s Report for the year 2024– 2025. This year has been one of significant progress, meaningful engagement, and strengthened unity within our Hazara community and the wider society of East Staffordshire. Our achievements have been made possible through the dedication of our volunteers, the support of our members, and the valued partnership of the East Staffordshire Borough Council
Strengthening Relationships with Local Leadership
One of the most memorable highlights of the year was our insignia visit to the Town Hall, graciously hosted by the Mayor of East Staffordshire, Cllr. Syed Hussain, alongside colleagues Gordon and Anne.
This visit fostered deep and insightful discussions that reflected the spirit of collaboration, inclusivity, and unity that defines our town. The Mayor’s commitment to diversity and cultural understanding continues to set an exemplary standard for all communities. We extend our sincere gratitude for the warm reception and the valuable exchange of ideas that enriched our society.
Eid Celebration & Reopening of the Centre
We were honoured to welcome Mr. Mayor Syed Hussain and his team to our Eid celebration and the reopening of our Community Centre. Their presence marked a significant moment for our community as we revitalized our space for cultural, educational, and social gatherings.
Their participation reaffirmed the valuable relationship we continue to build with local authorities and highlighted the importance of shared cultural celebration.
Hazara Culture Day 2025
Held at the Community Centre, this year’s Hazara Culture Day was a resounding success. We were joined by esteemed guests and many respected members of our community
The event highlighted the significance of preserving and promoting Hazara culture, strengthening ties across generations, and showcasing Hazara heritage, art, and values. We remain committed to enriching cultural awareness both locally and globally.
Supporting Education and Youth Achievement
A major milestone this year was the graduation ceremony at Burton Town Hall, organised by the Mayor of East Staffordshire to honour Hazara graduates.
The ceremony celebrated academic excellence and resilience, with the Mayor’s inspiring words reinforcing his support for equality and opportunity.
This event marked a proud moment for our entire community, reminding us of the importance of education in shaping our future.
We extend our deepest appreciation to the Mayor for his continued advocacy and for recognising the accomplishments of our young people.
Construction Project at the Community Centre
Thanks to the East Staffordshire Borough Council’s funding support—combined with member contributions and the tireless efforts of our dedicated volunteer team the construction and improvement project at our Community Centre progressed significantly throughout 2024 and continues into 2025.
This project includes:
-
Renovation and improvement of community facilities
-
Enhanced accessibility for all communities
-
Expansion of cultural and educational spaces
-
General repairs and modernisation efforts
Our volunteers have truly demonstrated the power of community service. Their countless hours of planning, labour, and coordination have ensured that this project continues to move forward smoothly. We thank every individual who contributed financially or through hands-on effort.
Volunteerism and Community Contribution
The heart of the Burton Hazara Society remains its members and volunteers.
Throughout the year, our volunteers have supported events, educational programmes, cultural activities, community outreach, and the centre construction project.
Their selfless service reflects the values of unity, compassion, and shared responsibility that define our society.
We are deeply grateful to all volunteers, donors, and supporters. Without you, none of this year’s achievements would have been possible.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we continue into 2025, our priorities include:
-
Completing the Community Centre construction and improvement project
-
Expanding youth programmes, educational support, and community workshops
-
Strengthening partnerships with local government and organisations
-
Promoting Hazara culture and heritage through larger and more inclusive events
-
Increasing membership engagement and volunteer participation
-
Building a stronger, more resilient, and more united Hazara community in Burton
Conclusion
The year 2024–2025 has been marked by progress, unity, and celebration. We are honoured to have engaged closely with community leaders, to have celebrated our culture with pride, and to have supported our youth in their educational journeys.
Our achievements belong to every member of the Burton Hazara Society, and I look forward to continuing this journey of growth and collaboration.
On behalf of the Society, I extend my warmest thanks to all who contributed to making this year a success.
With respect and gratitude,
OMID Jafari

TRUSTEES’ REPORT
The Trustees are pleased to present their report for the year. We take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to the Chairman and his team for their dedication, leadership, and hard work throughout the period. As the Chairman has rightly highlighted, none of our progress would be possible without strong partnerships. We fully echo this sentiment. As we move into 2024/25, we remain committed to strengthening existing partnerships and building new ones with community groups, organisations, and stakeholders. These relationships are vital in helping us grow stronger, more resilient, and more connected as a community.
During the year, significant progress was made on the ongoing construction project. The Trustees are pleased to report that construction work continued steadily despite various challenges. A particularly commendable aspect of this progress has been the tremendous contribution of our members, many of whom volunteered their time, skills, and labour to support the project. Their dedication has not only reduced overall project costs but has also fostered a deeper sense of ownership, unity, and pride within the community.
We recognise and greatly appreciate the countless hours that volunteers have committed whether assisting on-site, supporting administrative tasks, or helping coordinate project activities. Their efforts demonstrate the true spirit of our organisation and reflect our shared commitment to building a long-lasting asset for future generations.
Financially, the year has presented its share of challenges. As the accounts indicate, there is still much work to be done to strengthen our financial position. However, the Trustees remain optimistic. With continued community support, active fundraising, and collaborative partnerships, we are confident that 2024/25 will be a year of meaningful progress and further achievements.
In closing, we extend our gratitude to all members, volunteers, supporters, and partners. Your collective contribution continues to drive our mission forward, and we look ahead to the coming year with renewed energy and confidence.

Independent Examiners Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
