Management

The Charitable Incorporated Organisation is an early year’s provider that operates from a classroom at Glaisdale Primary School.

The playgroup is managed by a committee of parents of children who attend the playgroup, plus members of the local community with skills and qualifications in relation to the role fulfilled, plus one affiliated member, our child protection officer.

Three permanent members of staff are employed. Day to day running of the early year’s provision is overseen by the playgroup manager, Helen Purtill. Parents of children using the playgroup are invited to participate in meetings about how the organisation is run and are encouraged to become trustees in what is very much a community-based organisation. Trustees are elected annually at the AGM.

The committee is responsible for; Employment of staff, Reviewing policies and practice, Finance management, Safeguarding children (Child protection), Health and safety and Fundraising.

All parents or guardians are welcome at meetings. We are a community based, non-profit making organisation registered with the Charity Commission.

We are a member of the Early-Years Learning Alliance and the North Yorkshire Early Years Partnership with the local authority and we are also registered with OFSTED.

Through play, in a secure environment with adult support, we think children can:
