REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024
The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ending 31
March 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accountin8 and Reporting by Charities..
Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance
with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021
{effective l January).
Our projects for the year 2023-2024 have continued successfully in countries effected by the refugee
crisis in Jordan, Lebanon, and Bangladesh for the Rohingya refugees. We also distributed aid for the
victlms of Floods and for the earthquake victims in Turkey and Morocco in 2023. Our work brought
relief to thousands of families. Our team also continued their work in India, and trustees travelled to
India to verify and to start new projects for the next few years.
As reported in last yearf5 Statement, we have now started the buildin8 work for our housing and girls
school projert. Our Orphans Umrah program continues, and again this year we sponsored 30 orphans
to perform Umrah.
We also continue to SUPPOrt thousand5 Qf families with basic daily items like, food, water, medical
support, income 5UPPOrt. community support. and free education support.
Financial review- Reserve5 and financial performance
The Chority raised £4(X),(XIO in income for this period and have distributed £365,OW to worthy
causes for this financial year.
The charity has sufFicient reserves to cover expenses for MO￿ than 18 months in line with our
reserves policy.
The Charity will always look to minimized overheads and wlll contlnue to monitor costs and funds to
have sufficient funds in all area5 to continue our work.
The charitvs funds and donations have increased in line with expectations. In the event of reserves
fallin8 significantly below the target level, we will aim to restore the reserves as soon as possible by
increasing fundraising, Increasin8 sponsors and other means where possible including reducing
expenditure. Similarly, if reserves are significantly above the target level, the charity will put in place
a plan as soon as possible, aiming to eliminate the excess within two years by spending on new
projects and increase provisions for poor families in need. The trustees will not. however. take any
steps that mi8ht call into question the ability of the charity to continue a5 a financially viable operation
in the long term.
On behalf of all the trustees at Frlends For You, we would Ilke to slncerely thank all our donors and
supporter5 overthe year5 forthelrfantastl¢ sUPPOrt. We extend our thanks to our hardworklng stsff
and volunteers in Indla and in the UK. Our thaDk5 a150 goe5 out to our partners in Lebanon and
Bangladesh for maklng our refugee projerts possible. Without our teams and partners around the
world, carrylnz out our charlty work would be very dlfficult.
All projert details are avallable on our website at:

Significant activities
We continue our work for many projects despite the challenges we face during ongoing and new
confllcts in many countries around the world. In 2023124, we have again been impacted by inflation
such a5 material and labour costs to name a few. The continued currency volatility, and difficulties in
supply of material due to the continued conflict in Ukraine and new conflicts in the middle east and
elsewhere carries on. Despite these challenges. we have overcome these issues and Still continue with
all our projects.
Food Aid- Friends For You managed to deliver our pro8ram of food parcels and hot mea15 successfully
to many countries including Turkey, Morocco where thousands of famllies lost their homes and into
the refugee camps in Jrdan. Lebanon, and Bangladesh. We distributed thousands of food parcels and
Pa8e14

hot meals to many poverty-stricken areas of India, and the Syrian refugee camps in Jordan & Lebanon.
We distributed enou8h food parcels to produce nearly one million hot meals in 2023124.
Watsr Ald
Hand pumps - Many families can have access to water all year round. In 2023124, over 120 hand
pumps were provided which can be acce55ed by over a thousand families who Othe￿Ise would have
little or no access to water. This facility will last for many years to come, 8eneratin8 Duas and Sadaqa
e Jariyah to all those who donated
Bore Well
Dozens of bore wells were installed in different parts of small and large villages in many parts of India.
A Single bore well can pump enough water to supply a small village with daily water for up to 2C#l+
families. This facility also provides local mosques and community centres for their water needs. Again,
this facility will last for many years to come, generating Duas and Sadaqa e Jariyah to all those who
donated.
Medlcal Ald - Millions of families suffer in silence because they have no access to medical funds and
facilities. We do our absolute best to provide as much help as possible. However, due to lack of funds,
many thousands continue to suffer in silence.
Child Sponsorlsupport - in 2024 we have registered 140 children back into school As everything
returns to normality, we will take in more children in 2024. Children need their education for their
future. We will continue to expand our e(iucatlon program depending on funds raised.
We thank all our child sponsors who continued their child sponsor5 and those donors who helped
maintain the school.
CommunStyAld-We Contlnued throughout 2023 helping communities meet their everyday needs by
providing a safe place for congregation by repairin8, improving, or extending building5 With facilities
to meet the needs of the community.
Refugees around the world - we have resumed our international duties for our work in the refugee
camps in Jordan and Lebanon for the Syrian, Palestinian refugees in September 2023. We distributed
aid worth nearly £50,C(rfJ. We have plans for several trips in 2023124 to distribute further aid to those
refugee camps.
